Outslayer+Bag+(2).JPG

I purchased the above 6ft 150lb Muay Thai Bag from Outslayer Professional Fight Gear a couple months ago in preparation for a pending house purchase, since I'll finally have a garage to hang a bag in. I knew what I wanted out of a bag, and so I did some research on brands until I came across Outslayer. The bag looked like what I wanted, it was affordable, and I liked the 10 year warranty that came with it, so I forked over the money for it even though there aren't a whole lot of reviews online. I also got a great deal on it because Outslayer was doing some sort of clearance sale and I got the bag for about 60% of the normal purchase price. They have a wide array of color combinations to choose from, so you aren't limited to the typical solid black or white choices.

The bag arrived on my doorstep about 4 days after I ordered it, and was packaged inside a zip-top vinyl shell that you could very well use to make another heavy bag, if you wanted. If you order one of these bags, just be prepared to get your hands covered in glue, because the shipping label is put over the zipper and the adhesive is very gooey and sticks to everything. I do plan on scrubbing off the glue from the vinyl shell and making a lighter 6ft bag out of it specifically for ground-and-pound practice, at some point.

Since then, I have had the bag hanging in the dojo I train at, and I use it every time I am there. A few people I train with also use it, including my instructor, so it has been given a pretty good working over. The bag itself seems to be very durable and well constructed, with a thick shell and lots of reinforcement stitching, but the print on it fades and rubs off very quickly. This is a completely aesthetic issue and doesn't bother me in the slightest, but if you want your bags to look pretty then it might be an issue for you.

The strap-and-ring rig they use is nice because it makes the bag much quieter to use and reduces bouncing, but you do need to have a swivel to prevent it from binding up. That is actually one of the requirements mentioned in the warranty--if your straps get damaged from not hanging the bag on a swivel, they won't replace those. That and the obligatory "if you do something to it that it wasn't intended for, then we won't fix it" part were the only exceptions to the warranty--anything you could do to it through normal use is completely covered.

A major selling point for me, and the people I train with, is that this bag has no sandbags in it--it is 150lbs of cloth-fill. That means you never slam your shin or foot into a solid lump of almost-concrete when you're working the bag. Despite that, the bag is still quite firm, and provides good resistance to strikes. Being able to really slam power kicks into it without worrying about hard spots, but without having an overly-soft bag, is great. Another nice thing is that the bag is rated to 300lbs, so you can actually take out some of the cloth-fill and add sandbags to make it heavier if you wanted to.

From a usage standpoint, the bag has held up to everything we have thrown at it--hand strikes of various types (we are karateka, after all), elbows, knees, and kicks to all levels, including some ground-and-pound practice. I don't see it ever giving out unless you leave it outside to be exposed to the elements. It can get a little lumpy if you constantly hit one spot, but it can be evened out by striking other areas. Again, though, that's really just an aesthetic issue, since you don't have sandbags to worry about hitting when the fill shifts.

Overall, I give the Outslayer 6ft 150lb Muay Thai Bag a 4.5 out of 5, but only because the print comes off so easily and the bag requires a swivel but doesn't come with one. Minor issues only take away minor points, and if they made the print more permanent and shipped it with a swivel it would be a 5 out of 5 for me. I love the bag, and would definitely recommend it. In fact, I already have--a guy I used to train with actually bought one for himself after trying mine.

If anybody has any questions about the bag, just ask and I'll see what I can do to answer them.

Did you purchase the bag filled or unfilled? You mention it being affordable, do mind sharing the price of the bag (including shipping)? Do you have a link to where you purchased the bag? Any chance that deal is still going on?

Great little review my good man. It appears to be a solid purchase.

I purchased it filled for $160 ($30 of that was shipping), and the deal was actually one they listed on Craigslist--search for "muay thai" and see if it comes up on your area. You can buy the unfilled bags directly from them through their website, or on Amazon, for about $100.

Thanks for the review, I almost bought one abou two years ago but went with the KO fightgear instead. Bag looks great, what bag stand is that? I looks like you have a double end bag, speed bag pull up/dip station. Are those Makiwara boards? That stand looks awesome!

Good review. Let us know how it holds up in the long run. It was one of the bags that came up when I needed one for the house but I didn't purchase it because it was just a bit too loud for me. I didn't like how the name was so big on the side of the bag lol. I don't think I'm use to it and it's not something that I'd like to hang in my school. Went with the KO Thai bag like Dim Sum and a lot of other guys here. Here is my review on that bag http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f67/review-ko-fight-gear-thai-bags-2431809/

KO is a popular brand--I considered one, myself, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on this bag, and I'm very happy with it so far.

The stand is at my dojo and was built by a guy who trains with us who is a professional metalworker. It currently has my Outslayer bag, a Wrecking Ball bag, the double end bag, and the speed bag mounted on it, but things can be modified. The arm the double end bag is on can hold another heavy bag if we want, and the speed bag mount comes off and can be replaced with custom attachments. Those are wide leaf-spring-style makiwara, and they are on moveable mounts (we can loosen the bolts and slide them along the bottom rail, or even move them to the side or top rails). There are dip bars and pull-up bars on both sides of the stand, as well as a moveable straight pull-up/muscle-up bar on the top rails. The dip bars on one side can be removed and custom attachments can be attached there as well.

Here is an older photo of it from a different angle when it was still at our old location:

Thanks, and that's a great review! I can see how the bag would be a bit loud for some, but it doesn't bother me at all. I'll definitely be updating this as time goes on to keep people up-to-speed on how it holds up. So far, though, it's working out great!

I Love that stand bro!

Thanks--so do we! Once the guy who built it has recovered from knee surgery, I could see if he would be up for making one to sell you, but I don't know how you'd get it from here to California :p

I can only imagine the shipping! Haha!

so what's the verdict? Im thinking of getting one for home use.

I just purchased my Outslayer today off Amazon. Still had the color options and add on a D Ring at no extra charge. It is a 5 foot 100 pounder. The deal they had on Amazon was much cheaper than their site. I paid a total of 154 and change for a filled bag shipped to Florida. Cannot wait until it gets here.

^^do you have a link to the colored one? and does anyone have a experience with this one and the title thai bag?

Thanks for the heads up! Now to find a way to get it into Canada..

I just wanted to throw an update in here, now that I've had the bag for over a year. I moved it to my garage a couple months after moving into our house. To hang it, I had to buy a heavy-duty swivel mount, and I also used a heavy-duty bag spring to drop it closer to the floor and reduce stress on the mount. The mounting setup I used works very well, although I had to use washers to center the spring on the bolt it hangs on. I do need to find some way to stop the clip from bouncing off the spring when I throw multiple push-kicks, but it stays on for everything else I throw at it. As you can see in the photo, below, I rigged up a system to pull it out of the way of my car, without having to take the bag down.

The bag, itself, has stood up very well! You can see, at the very top of the bag, that the fill has settled a little, but that hasn't affected any of the striking area. The print on the bag stopped rubbing off, after a while, for anyone worried that it would disappear, completely. I've hit the bag with everything--full-power punches, palm strikes, forearm strikes, elbows, knees, kicks, ground-and-pound, and even throws:

Nothing phases this bag. It has some scuffs on it, but no real wear on the bag material, and no loose or popped stitching. When my dojo can save up enough money, we plan to get several of them. I really can't recommend it enough!

+1 on Outslayer bags. I love the hell out of mine. Trying to talk my gym owner into replacing our worn out Title thai bags with these.

Nice video. I checked out your other videos and that was a killer "1st mma fight" with an crazy, unexpected ending. NICE! Right out of a movie. Good stuff. You should put a soundtrack on it and you would get 10 million views.

Thanks! That ending wasn't actually unexpected to me or my instructor--we'd been discussing for weeks leading up to the fight how my opponent drops his lead hand to catch the knee as he throws that overhand right, which leaves him wide open for that kick. I had planned to do it in Round 1, but tunnel vision is a bitch :p
