Agreed. Ellie should have been a teenager.

Then on her birthday, her and Joel should have consummated their feelings

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

That would have been a controversy, and controversy sells!

Stop insulting me. In no way, shape or form was i ever disrespectful towards you so you have no reason to act in such a way towards me. If you really think she is a good character perharps you should explain to me what makes her good.

I mostly disagree. Saying that it changed gaming is dumb, but I think you're missing the point. It's not that it was the first of its kind or the most original, but it was the best executed. The graphics, the story, the writing, the gameplay, the voice acting, etc. I like the TWD games (Telltale) but those aren't really the same thing. This isn't a point and click game, it's not a quicktime movie game. The gameplay was a lot better and more dynamic.

I have a snow storm heading my way this weekend and no plans. I'm going to grab a case of beer and hopefully this game and plant my ass on the couch. I've never heard of this game until I was browsing through a thread on games that would make great movies.

Yeah, the key to beating it on the hardest mode is...

...if there's ever a way to pass a stage or point WITHOUT fighting, do that. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Agree completely. My favourite gaming experience of the last 10 years or so. Without a doubt.

I've tried beating it on the hardest mode but I'm at some boss in the school gym and it's taking forever to beat. I have no ammo. So I have to shoot him, wait for more zombies to come in through the window, kill them with my hands, take the ammo, shoot boss, rinse and repeat. I think I'm done.

That dude's annoying on any mode.

But yeah, those moments are where the super hard modes always tap me out. I couldn't even imagine trying to beat that part with Ellie and the cannibal dude, in that small area, where you have to fend off two or three bloaters and a fuck load of infected and clickers coming at you in all directions. I even struggle with that part on Normal.

The best way to do it on grounded is...

1: BEFORE you go into the gym where the bloater is, restart. There's a glitch on grounded where you get your ammo and nail bombs/Molotov cocktails back.
    2. Throw a Molotov cocktail at the bloater, then shoot him 2 times up close with shotgun. Should put him down.
    3. If you do that quick enough, you should be able to rush to the window where the runners come in from. You can kill them both with one shotgun blast if you crouch and get them at the right angle while waiting for them to drop down.

Here's a timestamped link to what it should look like:

molotow cocktails are your best friend against bloaters.

even on grounded difficulty it only takes 1 molotow and a couple of hits with the shotgun to kill them

I have no Moltov cocktails at all. I'll try the restart thing and see how that goes.

The trick is not to use Molotov cocktails/nail bombs until you go into the school, right before the bloater gym fight. You can use them then, and then by restarting you will get whatever you used before the gym fight back. I guess in your case, you still won't have a molly, which is problematic, but you will get your ammo back at least. Good luck.

That was the hardest part of the game for me. Beat it about 5/6 times, and still dont have that part down pat.

yea, that part is a fucking pain on grounded.

best way to do it imo, is by using David as a shield. always try to stand behind him, so the infected attack him first. then he will either struggle with them or punch them a couple of times and you can just walk up to them and get a 1-hit kill with your knife

and bricks and bottles are your best friend as always. throw it at the infected and run up to them and you can kill them with your knife as well.

Ellie can be a real killer in melee comnbat if you know how to use her ;)

Think I might just need to restart the level in general.

The bloater in the coal mill fight with David can be killed with 1 shot from Ellie's hunting rifle if you hit him below the knee where he has no protection.

The multiple bloaters in the tunnel in Salt Lake City can be completely avoided by using stealth without fighting any of the infected, although it's a slower way of doing it. For speedrunning purposes, there's a method called the Simon strat where you rush through the whole section and then throw a smoke bomb at the bloaters. You're then able to lift Ellie up to knock the crate down and the infected can't see you because of the smoke.
