If Woodley is able to take out Colby and Usman, I think he'll be right there with GSP/Hughes in terms of the top WW champs of all time.

If you think about who Woodley will have beaten:

Robbie Lawler (5 fight win streak - vicious champion)

Stephen Thompson 2x (7 fight win streak - considered best striker by GSP himself)

Demian Maia (7 fight win streak - got stuffed around 25 times or some shit)

Darren Till (Undefeated 17-0-1 - finishes him in 2nd round)

Colby (Currently 6 fight win streak)

Usman (Currently 12 fight win streak)

He only got the W against Thompson, once. Still, Tyron has Condit, DHK, and a very close win over Gastelum on there, before he even won the belt. I'd say he's suroassed Hughes, at least.

Evolution being what it is even if GSP's competition look better on paper they would likely lose to the guys Woodley is fighting. Tyron and the guys he faces came up watching and learning from the guys GSP faced.
Like the age old debate Ali or Tyson... Tyson would have made Ali reconsider careers.

I'm the one angling? Are you seriously suggesting Maia a multiple world champion BJJ practitioner is not as good of a grappler as Jake fucking Shields? Seriously? I have a feeling all you guys mentioning the Woodley/Shields fight actually haven't seen it and are just going by Wiki or fight finder. Woodley fought Thompson who's a better striker than anyone GSP fought. He fought Maia who's a better grappler (yes that includes Shields) than anyone GSP fought. Till is like a gigantic version of Hardy, a guy who GSP couldn't stop by the way and also bigger than anyone GSP fought. Having unavenged losses doesn't mean shit when one of the guys has failed multiple PED tests and the other guy doesn't fight in the organization you're in. GSP fans are like Michael Jordan fans who deny Lebron is simply a younger, bigger, faster, more athletic, more skilled version of Jordan. GSP was good in his era but his day has passed. Woodley kills any version of GSP and that's the reason GSP will avoid him, like he avoided Anderson for years and years and avoided Romero and Whittaker.

Thompson and Till put Woodley's resume ahead of GSP's imo.

George Foreman proved how good Ali's era was with his comeback.

Tyson was a body puncher who would rip guys to the body to open up the uppercut. Ali's ropadope would fail miserably to that. Also Forman was 6'3" a huge target compared to Tyson at 5'10"

It is too late in Woodley's career for him to reach GSP's achievements let alone surpass them. Not to mention he has losses he will never avenge, and multiple controversial decision wins.

GSP is GOAT and would outclass everyone Woodley has beaten. Would have blanketed wonder boy. The Koschek GSP beats woodley imo.

You can bitch about his lack of finishes all you want but the guy went forever without even losing a round. Yeah it might be boring but nothing is more dominant than that stat. People get caught in subs. They get clipped. Completely shutting down #1 contenders to easy 50-45s for years is no fluke.
