Quentin Tarantino Prepping New Movie Tackling Manson Murders

HiRapTB.png

Quentin Tarantino is quietly starting to put together his latest project, and is talking to A-list actors for what is promising to be a unique take on the Manson Family murders.

The project, whose title is unknown, was written by Tarantino, who would also direct. Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who have produced and executive produced the previous Tarantino films, are involved, sources tell THR.

WME is said to be in the early stages of shopping the project to studios to co-finance and co-distribute the venture. The move apes the way Tarantino and the Weinsteins made the filmmaker’s 2009 movie Inglourious Basterds, which had Universal Studios as a financial and distributing partner.

Sources say that Tarantino is putting the finishing touches on the script and that Brad Pitt, who worked with the filmmaker on Basterds, and Jennifer Lawrence have been approached. Studios could receive the package after Labor Day, according to one source. The plan is to shoot in 2018, possibly in the summer.

Script details are fuzzy but one of the stories centers on Sharon Tate, the actress and wife of director Roman Polanski who was murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969.

Interesting. This seems way out of Tarantino's wheelhouse, but I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

Not really a fan of true crime. But I ain't missing a Tarantino under any circumstances.

Brad Pitt as Manson could be pretty interesting. Suppose it could be a mix between Tyler Durden and Goines from Twelve Monkeys

I am very much a fan of true crime stories like this and especially ones with serial killers. Biggest gripe I have though is the fact the majority of the films covering the subject suck.

But I have faith Tarantino will do a good job with this one

Pitt is probably too old to play Manson, unless the story takes place in prison

Jared Leto would be a better choice than Pitt as Charles Manson

Could be interesting. I mean, it's from QT so it's not like I'm going to skip it.

I wonder what it would look like if QT made something way out of character for him, like a family film, kind of like how Scorsese made Hugo.

will be interesting if this will count against his ten movie goal

My thoughts, this is definitely something I wouldn't think QT would choose as a his next film.

As much as I am a Tarantino fan, I'm worried the dialogue will be too..."Tarantino".

I'm getting a Manson and his crew torturing and killing Polanski's wife with stuck in the middle with you playing vibe.

Rather see a Ted Bundy remake. Him following around hot chicks and then bashing their brains in. Maybe show him having sex with dead bodies for the first time ever in Cinema and make it NC-17.

curious to see how QT works "n....." into this script

I'll watch it as I love all of QT's stuff but I'd much prefer to see him making new fiction.

Eh. Not sure how I feel about this tbh. I like QT's movies, but I can't help but feel like this movie will be too stylised for the content matter. We will see I guess.

Ps: I can see Dicaprio playing Manson if they ugly him up a bit.

His recent meetings with Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie make sense now.
