My Muay Thai coach had us punch each other in the forehead for 1 minute straight (with not super hard punches but we could feel it).

Is this normal or weird. My forehead still feels tender.
I'm all for eating leg kicks and body shots to toughen up those body parts, but the forehead?

Ive never done it, somehow I'm blessed enough to get hit in the face a good amount without it becoming a drill.

I'd be more worried about the punchers hand. That's begging for a student to break their hand.
    Kind of weird.

You better get used to it because that top of your dome is going to be used to absorb a lot of punishment.........as you march forward in that war of attrition...........it's not how hard you can bang, it's how many Thai hookers you can bang before the sun comes up.........

Uhhh. Idk. As long as it was a one time thing you should be ok...

If you're getting red flags from this coach just trust your instincts. And if he makes this "drill" a habit I would definitely leave unless you are at a shaolin temple training king fu then is normal.

One of my coaches had me doing a similar drill, however what he did was do a few punches slowly, but without any power or pop. This was done to train us to avoid flinching and not being scared to being hit.

Did your coach tell you what was the purpose of the drill?
If he tell you its to strengthen you chin and be more resistant to a KO just go train in another gym.

Y'know your basement? Well right underneath that.
I love how he always rises a milisecond before the kick lands to take the edge off the blow to the taint

I can see (no pun intended lol) the purpose of that drill then. There's a similar drill where you stand with your back to something (padded, preferably) and let your partner just go to town on you at light power so you can get used to seeing things coming at you while shelling up.

If you guys are doing your drill pretty light, I wouldn't worry too much about brain trauma or your forehead...the forehead is a pretty hard spot.

Technically though...you could do the same drill with your hands up and looking through a high guard but whatever.

If it's super light and a one time thing.....eh
If this is a regular thing or real punches change gyms.
You can get used to getting swung at by doing defensive drills where you are forced to just block and defend which makes much mroe sense and actually improves your defence
