Anyone ever get this problem? I was punched in the ear yesterday and after the ringing went away it still feels clogged and I cant hear out of it well. My instructor says it will go away, just seeing if anyone else has had this issue.

i punched a sparing partner in the ear, he couldnt hear out of it and it ended up being a broke or ruptured ear drum or something

I'd get it looked at, you can rupture your Tympanic Membrane that way.

I burst my eardrum after taking a hard hit, pinch your nose shut and try and blow out. If air comes out of your ear, you've punctured it. It heals by itself though, over a few weeks, not much you can do to treat it.

yeah air comes out...which i guess is good right? I got a fight coming up next month so i gotta do a lot of sparring, is that going to be okay?

mate u probley ruptured your ear drum hold your nose and blow out of it if it makes a whislting sound you have fuked your ear

if on the other hand nothing happenes your sweet

but if u have perferated your ear drum dont be a dick and do more sparring it any gunna help it will make it worse and if your ear is to exposed to normal air alot and it isnt healing

then your gunna get an inner ear infection and then be dizzy as fuk and cant even train

just train for now but noo head contact good luck with your fight

has this happened alot to you guys? and would headgear prevent it?

No and yes. I wear headgear whenever I train and have taken a few shots/kicks to the head in my time.

I have never experienced anything like you are describing and I don't want to.

I would see a Doc as soon as possible.

Sorry Fighting Rabbit..I realized after my reply that it was Jeff Roy who had posted the original.

So in effect my reply was partly to your question, and his as well.

thanks guys, im going to the drs tomorrow morning to see what they say. ive talked to a few people and i guess its a possibility i wont be able to fight next month. ill post back once the dr tells me whats up

I was sucker punched in the ear years ago, it was sore for days on end. You learn alot of things from fighting, sometimes the most painful experiences are the most educating as well.

Headgear ftw.

I mean, if you're sparring with 14/16's and wearing headgear, you should be MINIMIZING this sort of damage.

Earshots hurt when you get nailed with a pair of 12's square on the ear.

That's a pretty amazing test

Yeah, there should be no instance where you're nailing each other in the ear with 6oz in sparring, or just sparring with 6oz alone.

That's just not intelligent sparring.

Yeah, I found out trying to blow my nose later that night! My friends tried to get me to smoke and blow smoke out of my ear as a party trick, but I declined....

I only had a small puncture, best see the doc to see how bad it is, and be careful in the shower/bath

never do this. I have one fucked up ear drum, and i can blow air out of it (and bubbles underwater! :icon_chee) and once i tried blowing cig smoke outta my ear thinking it could come out in a big cloud all cool. But alas when the moment came, it just trickled out kind of side streamish, and it hurt like A MOTHEUBFUCKER. Since then i've given up being a freakshow.

its just one of those things that happens a lot.

went to the doctors today and he says i have a big puncture, but its not in the center...so no boxing until i see the specialist which isnt for another 2 weeks...and i have a fight 4 weeks away so i dont know how this is gonna work.
