According to a report from Ring TV,junior welterweights Regis Prograis (20-0, 17 KOs) and Viktor Postol (29-1, 12 KOs) struck a deal last night for the two to go head-to-head in a bout to be televised on Showtime. The deal cancels the need for a purse bid, which was going to happen today.

But even with and agreement to fight in place, the site and date for the bout has yet to be determined (although BoxRec has the fight pegged for March 9th at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma).

Big step up for Prograis. He obviously has a decent offensive skillset, but I'm not sold on his defense just yet, especially against a guy who is good at catching fighters coming in like Postol is. Should be interesting.

Finally! Been waiting for Rougarou to get back in ring. This is a step up, but Prograis is a beast and I expect him to pass the test. He showed the goods before. Seems to be very polished until he's sure his opponent isn't able to catch him or hurt him, then just walks them down. If I was going to suspect anything from the fights I've seen, it might be his gas tank as he seems to want to end his fights ASAP once he's sure he can. But that's just me speculating.

Showtime’s telecast March 9 also will include an IBF junior welterweight elimination match that’ll pit Sweden’s Anthony Yigit (21-0-1, 7 KOs) against Russia’s Ivan Baranchyk (17-0, 10 KOs). Yigit is ranked No. 3 by the IBF at 140 pounds, one spot in front of Baranchyk.

Ballsy move. Definitely not a gimme for Prograis. His management is obviously confident and the guy is 29 already. I'd say that's the right thing to do, see if the kid has it.

Is this a Shobox card? Either way, I've been looking forward to Prograis step up in competition. The way he walked through Diaz really impressed me.

I think he wins but I’m not putting cash on it. Decent.

Crossing my fingers, this was one of my favorite recent prospects I saw. Looked great last time out.

I never thought too much of Postol. I think people pretended he was better than he was to hype Crawford.

I'll take Prograis by late stoppage.

Former junior welterweight world titleholder Viktor Postol fractured his thumb and is out of the March 9 interim junior welterweight title bout vs. Regis Prograis. Taking his place: former world titlist Julius Indongo in the Showtime main event.

I'm just surprised it's someone we have actually heard of instead of a complete nobody.
