Edit to add this is the attack on the Trump supporter:

After Trump supporter Sean Stiles was bloodied and beaten at the University of Berkeley in California by a fascist demonstrator with a bicycle lock, police were unable to identify the masked attacker.

However, it only took a matter of days for the internet to hunt down the violent coward — and the results are more shocking than we expected. Just 4 days after outraged activists on /pol/, a message board hosted on 4Chan, began tracking down the masked thug, social media users worked together to identify the attacker as none other than Diablo Valley College philosophy professor Eric Clanton.

Well that's assault with a deadly weapon.

To bad the guy was not armed and give the shit head a dirt nap.

However at least he should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon and do 5 to 15 years.

Great source. Looks super legit. 4Chan is the most reasonable place on the internet.

4chan has cracked a ton of cases. From pedophiles to people that torture cats to the recent guy that shot that 74 year old man, 4chan was pinging that guy's phone and keeping authorities updated to his whereabouts.

Charges would require more evidence than the shape of his nose and the appearance of his backpack straps.

Auburn police don't put up with these cowards!

Yes but they have a start and that's more then they did have.

It was really fucked up what was done to a guy trying to keep violence from occurring in the first place.

They found enough for the victim to press charges against him.

Those nerds have pretty crazy electronic detective skills. Didn't they find Shia Leboef's "secret location" in bumfuck, Tennessee by checking contrails and flight times, then finding a diner, then had a guy honk his horn around the area until it was audible on the stream, then found the "he will not divide us" flag in a field and replaced it with a MAGA tee-shirt?

On a side note, why the hell do so many liberal arts professors have ponytails and earrings in their 40s and 50s? One of the few professions where most of the people are in a complete state of arrested development.

Here is another site purporting to prove his identity.

I don't know if the evidence conclusively proves it's him, but there is some pretty interesting implications with this type of vigilantism. The internet is powerful enough to ruin your life (or at least try). On one hand, if it's him, it's pretty radical investigating, but if it's not him, his life may be unjustly ruined.

A quick skim of the evidence does show a lot of smoke. Not sure there's a smoking gun, but there's evidence there.

That was a great story. I can't verify if they actually found the "secret" location with their "weaponized autism" or not, but if they did, it goes to show the power of numbers. When you get hundreds of people putting their minds into one endeavor you get some tower of Babel type stuff.

These are all excellent questions. I have no answers.
