Robson backs Alli to make tournament impact for England
With Dele Alli impressing in an England shirt, former captain Bryan Robson hopes to see the 20-year-old make an impact at major tournaments.

Former England captain Bryan Robson believes Dele Alli can become a "top-class player" for the Three Lions and play a key role at major tournaments in the future.

Alli has scored 24 goals from midfield in less than two Premier League seasons with Tottenham, while he has been quick to establish himself as a regular starter for his country.

And with England building towards the 2018 World Cup under new manager Gareth Southgate, Robson has backed Alli to star in Russia if he continues to develop at such a rapid pace.

"He's a great player, there's no getting away from that – he can score goals, he's got great energy levels, very good technical ability," Robson told Omnisport.

"He can be a big part for England. You always need top-class players to do well in any competition, so hopefully he'll come through and be a top-class player for England.

"If you get that then you've got a chance of doing well in competitions.

"England still have quite a bit of work to do in the World Cup qualification, but with the group of players that they've got I'd be very disappointed if they miss out on qualification."

Robson earned 90 caps for England, scoring 26 goals in the process, while he captained his country over 60 times.

Suarez's PSG dive was football porn - Cantona slams 'dramatic' striker
Luis Suarez is the subject of a bizarre rant from Manchester United legend Eric Cantona, who slammed his "dive" against Paris Saint-Germain.

Eric Cantona launched a verbal assault on Luis Suarez for what he perceived to be "blatant" diving in Barcelona's incredible Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain, likening the striker's dramatics to "football porn".

Suarez played a key role in helping Barca overturn a first-leg 4-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League's last 16, as the Catalans smashed their visitors 6-1 at Camp Nou in arguably the greatest escape in the competition's history.

The hammering in Barcelona gave Luis Enrique's men a 6-5 aggregate win and saw them progress to the last eight against the odds, though there was a hint of fortune about their fifth goal, as Suarez went down in the penalty area under minimal contact from Marquinhos and Neymar buried the resulting spot-kick.

Sergi Roberto then sealed the historic comeback a few moments later in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but former Manchester United star Cantona was keen to focus on Suarez in his foul-mouthed rant.

Speaking in a Eurosport video, controversial Cantona said: "Suarez is not a biter any more, he's a diver. Not a very good one, way too dramatic.

"Such blatant cheating with this hand on the throat, look of agony. B******t.

"This is football porn. Kids should not be allowed to watch."

Suarez was not the only player to incur the Frenchman's wrath - Cantona also took aim at Manchester City following their Champions League exit at the hands of Monaco.

He specifically targeted defender John Stones, joking that the reason he cost £50 million is because he arrived with a "fully equipped trailer" behind him.

"Manchester City's defence are not the only ones to blame for their very own infamous Brexit," he said.

"We know now why John Stones was so expensive – because he comes with a fully equipped trailer that he pulls behind him when he plays.

"The question now is not who is going to leave when the summer comes, but rather, who is going to stay?"
