In his last 3 fights, the momentum shifted after he eye poked his last 3 opponents: Mike Perry, Gunnar Nelson and Taleb Nordine. I'm curious to know if he did it in previous bout. Referees really need to watch out for those in his next fights.

I laughed when Perry taunted him by sticking his fingers out. It was in the beginning of the first round.

Someone needs to break a few fingers. Eye poking is such a bitch move.

They should detract a point for that shit, this guy thrives on that.

It's bad when someone does it. It's disfgraceful if it there is a pattern behind it.

However this one looked harmless to me. Perry wiped his eye like once and did not seem to be bothered at all.

If you say it had any effect on the fight and the result then you are really reaching imo. The momentum shifted when Ponz started tagging Perry over and over.

At this point it is well known he is a eye poker so there should be a warning in the locker room by the ref and a point taken the first time during the match.
Does he poke the brown eye with that same finger? ;)

the UFC should transition to those closed MMA gloves they have. you can still grab for a submission and it makes eye poking near impossible

Ufc seem to let some people away it. Fucking ridiculous. If you poke someone in the eyes there should be a mandatory eye poke back to level the playing field, eye for an eye an all that.

While I didn't think this was bad, I do think eye pokes should get an automatic one point deduction, whether it is on purpose or not.
That would surely make fighters pay more attention to it.

Wasn't there blood under the eye immediately after it happened?

If I'm recalling correctly, I don't agree with you at all.

Perry was unfazed by the eye poke. It was an accident. Ponzi Scheme is legit, Perry is still nothing more than a brawler with a chin.

So a cut around the eye?

Quite common and usually not an issue if under the eye.

It obviously did not leak into the eye.

I am not saying that nothing happened. My argument is that it did not have an effect on the fight. And a minor cut that does not leak blood into the eyes does not have an effect.

Guys who have a track record of doing this should get no latitude from the referees, first sign of pawing they get warned, second time take a point. It’s a garbage tactic up there with oblique kicks
