I think Poirier took McGregor lightly in their first match.
It was still early in McGregors UFC career and he hadnt yet proven himself to be a serious threat.

Poirier got caught, and finished, but I doubt it would happen in a rematch.
He is also much better at 155, and has matured as a fighter.

If McGregor ever actually fights Ferguson, after he loses I'd like to see a rematch with Poirier at 155.

    Thoughts?

I'd be curious who Sherdog wouldn't take in a rematch against Conor at this point.

the strikes to the back of the head played a part too but I'd still favor McGregor in a rematch

Nah, he was just scared to fight. He had a perfect opportunity to duck under and go for the takedown, but because he was so scared, he chose to cover up.

If he fights like he fought Pettis, he will have a better chance. However, Conor puts him to sleep again. With Conor's improved boxing, and Poirier's weak chin, I predict a similar outcome as the first fight. Poirier goes to sleep.

He's still the most successful low-IQ fighter out there right now. He'll never win a belt because he can't help but make stupid decisions. Almost willfully so.

Wrong, a shertard already made a thread a few days back that Brimage would win in a rematch.

Holloway could, Aldo maybe, Eddie definitely CANNOT beat Conor. His performance was so underwhelming that I couldn't imagine a world where Eddie could possibly beat Conor without getting dropped 1000 times.

Way too hittable, and his chin isn't up to that challenge.

That said, he'd beat Conor up on the ground if he managed to get it there.
