This is food for thought. With all the media attention given to blacks killed by Police, it leaves you believing that whites are almost never shot by Police. But, the truth is that about 26% of people killed by Police are black while about 50% are white, and apparently whites being killed by police is rarely newsworthy and certainly doesn't result in riots.

The truth is that the raw statistics can't tell us whether the police are treating African Americans differently from white people. To understand that, we'd need to look at more details about what happened in each incident. There's a big difference between a case where someone was shooting at the police, and a case where someone was passive and unarmed.

Yeah, good piece. Hard to measure all the variables, for sure. For example, aggressiveness or non-compliance by the person the police choose to interact with. That always seems to come into question.

I thought it was about 400 people on average are killed by police per year, but there has been an uptick recently.

Both sexes were used in his stats so I included them as well. You are right though, black men make up about 6% of the population and the lions share of the violent crimes by their race, but even their women are more violent than any other races women.

The cold hard stats say we do not have a police problem, we have a black problem. Now before anyone calls me racist its just the cold hard truth. If the police really wanted you guys dead they'd stop policing your neighborhoods.

Blacks commit violent crime at a much higher rate than whites, so it makes sense that they get killed by police at a much higher rate.

So what you're saying is blacks account for about 25% of the police shootings yet only make up 16% of the population if you include every man, woman, elder and child.

If you want to be more specific Black males make up 6% of the population but account for 25% of the police shootings.

White men make up 31% of the population and account for about half the police shootings.

So if black men had the same numbers as white men you could expect nearly 1300 police shootings compared to white men.. or more specifically more than 2x more often than white men.
