Edit: Will also receive additional punishment from the UFC

UFC president Dana White told MMAFighting.com Wednesday night that Palhares will receive an additional punishment for his actions, but he wouldn't comment on any specifics.

Awesome, he should receive a one year suspension.

good, pierce was tapping aggresively and palhares held the sub for an extra 3 secs

Well technically you don't have to let go of the sub until the ref steps in. But I guess they can not give you the bonus either.

He has a track record for this. Im starting to dislike the guy.

One can only wonder how much longer he dodges the chopping block for this kind of shit.

Good on them. Shouldn't reward malicious intent after the ref has intervened.

If three seconds is one second then you are correct, sir.

Not malicious and that's liablous to say otherwise. The second he saw the ref he stopped. The dude isn't smart. That's the cause and that's where it ends.

Well, Mike Pierce gave more taps than Paul Harris has IQ points and he still didn't let go. This is deserved.

Here is the problem with most people's reaction, if you pointed out the extra second and that he cranked it around the time/slightly after, you'd be right. But you hold the sub until the ref intervenes or you risk a situation where one guy claims he didn't tap
