My brothers game got released at E3 and is on sale in steam for 8 bucks on PC, it's called OVERWHELM.
It's a 2D retro horror shooter where you go into an alien hive to clear it out, there's 5 bosses and when you kill them it's like megaman, except the powerup goes to all the other enemies. You get 3 lives.
I'm pretty biased but reviews are good, I jumped out of my seat a few times playing it, the sound design is awesome.
It's been a long road for him, he used to work for Frontier but hated lacking creative control. This piece is all his work, his whole vision and I'm real proud of him for it.
If your interested in a frustratingly fun dark little number i highly recommend it.
