Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Use the Sherdog posting feature labeled "media" for everything instagram (it looks like a clip of film: two frames and reel ratchets on the sides).

I cannot seem to find my way back to it. Evidently I am now the old guy confused by technology, dammit.

Just three quick examples. I can find more if......

Oh wait.... you meant "cage" as in to fight inside.... I was just talking about cages in general. :p

Also, I don't feel like I saw it mentioned here, but congrats @Mark Zima on the nomination for 2017 Poster of the Year. I was happy to see a familiar face from here on that list.

Thanks for the vote. I didn't expect a WMMA-focused poster would win poster of the year for "The Heavies" so I never got my hopes up for that, I was just happy to be nominated...

...and relieved that I didn't have to suffer the embarassment of receiving zero votes...

(Thankyou all that voted for me! :))

I read Evinger is out of her fight.

http://mmajunkie.com/2018/01/tonya-...new-opponent-ufc-fight-night-126-austin-texas

UFC Fight Night Austin suffers its first shake-up after Tonya Evinger vs. Marion Reneau is canceled due to an injury.
The bantamweight showdown between former Invicta champion Tonya Evinger and Marion Reneau for UFC Fight Night 126 has been called off due to an injury to Evinger according to sources who spoke to FanSided.

That is unfortunate.

Goddammit. Was really looking forward to seeing her at 135 in the UFC.

I was also reading that King Reina will be fighting on DEEP Jewels 19 in march. I have been looking around for confirmation on that. Nothing yet but I am keeping an eye out for news on that subject.

I figure I will post a banner for the event. It might have been posted already as it was announced several days ago. Nothing yet on other competitors.

I am reading that Pámela Bóveda has a fight coming up at Ragnarok 9, or so it seems from some promotional info in Spanish.

he 9th edition of Ragnarok will be held on February 3 at the Municipal Gymnasium No. 1 in Trelew. Fabricio "La Roca" Arévalo,-organizer-, works counter-clockwise to present an event that will have the hierarchy of wrestlers from different points of America, including Paraguay, Chile, Mexico and of course local and national fighters.
English

Representing Nova Uniao Argentina and his country of origin Paraguay, with a record of 5-2-0, we present to Pamela Bove, the first woman in Paraguay to obtain black belt in Jiu Jitsu.

http://www.diarioelchubut.com.ar/no...nta-regresiva-para-la-ix-edicion-del-ragnarok

I checked on Tapology and they have her fight with Sarah Alpar as cancelled but I saw this result previously:

Nov.11 - Sarah Alpar def. Pamela Boveda by TKO in rd 1 at SCS 33.

As you can see they are representing Boveda as having lost a second fight. Sherdog and Tapology list her as 5-1 still. (Edit. I remember checking Alpar's twitter out and seeing her celebrating the win so I double checked.)

I have a couple of new videos up on my channel, with more to come. Feel free to check them out.

Saw that Jennifer Dugwen, a semi-local kickboxer I used to follow had an mma fight coming up, and after some digging found out that she's actually 2-1 as an amateur. She fought on some of the weird mixed rules "underground" fight cards in New York.

Looking for her mma fights, found out she has been boxing under the name Jennifer Chieng. Turns out she fought Mikaela Mayer at the Rio Olympics (!), and she's training with the women at Renzo Gracie NY. At 31 maybe she's not a prospect, but in the past UFC has been quick to pick up people with legit striking backgrounds after a couple of pro fights.

UFC FIGHTER AMANDA RIBAS ACCEPTS TWO-YEAR SUSPENSION

USADA announced on Wednesday that UFC athlete Amanda Ribas, of Coconut Creek, Fla., has tested positive for a prohibited substance and accepted a two-year sanction for her anti-doping policy violation.

Ribas (6-1) had been slated to make her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale on July 7 against Juliana Lima, but was removed from the fight card after being flagged for a potential anti-doping violation.

Ribas, 24, tested positive for ostarine following an out-of-competition urine test conducted on June 7, 2017. Ostarine is a non-Specified Substance in the class of Anabolic Agents and prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

I have been back logged on a few WMMA fights so while catching up I finally got to seeing this interview with Amber Brown and it seems like she is going to finally going to make a real attempt at moving up to 115 after missing 105 her last fight. Since 115 is now her weight class maybe she should accept the fight vs Celine Haga now. Celine seems to have moved on and is trying to fight Angela Magana.

Lord, two years :( She didn't even make her debut. Well I hope she can come back from a long layoff and kill it!

unlikely..

when USADA include in their statement the bit about remaining in teh testing pool for the duration or your suspension is put on hold, it generally means they have left the testing pool.

she wasnt tested after her positive so i can 90% guarantee she has left the pool so will have the full 2 years to serve on her return..

so no chance of seeing her in the UFC now ever.

maybe UFC will release her, brazilian fighter with no name or experience, 2 years.. Carlos Boi got released and i expect her the same

So how does this work? Presumably NSAC will also ban, let's say for 2 years also. If she sits out her sentence then isn't she eligible to fight for other promotions when she's served her time. After all its not a life ban.

What about the UFC, if they've released her and kicked her out of the testing pool does that really mean she has to serve another 2 years if they want to re-sign. I'm presuming she was cut rather than walking away and that its not her fault that she's not being tested during the 2 years?

USADA will register her two years on teh UFC database and most commissions should respect that until its original end date. Once that 2 years is up she can fight in other promotions (there may be small promotions that ignore it and let her fight anyway)

but no, as far as UFC goes, she has to serve two years in the testing pool before she can fight. Them cutting her is basically them saying "theres no way back"

If she has been released then thats her UFC career over (unless they in the future got rid of USADA)
