I think that is what Sonnen is saying. Genetics determines whether you are a sprinter or a distance runner, and it determines whether you are really powerful and strong in the ring or if you have great stamina and can apply constant pressure for the entire fight in the ring.
I liked Penne's original witch nose better than the surgically normalized one too.
Also I wonder if Miesha used to be on Tonya's Would-list? Iirc Evinger has some quite strong dislike for Tate, which reeks a bit of rejection-born bitterness imo. And there are party pics of the two, so apparently she hasn't always disliked her..
(disclaimer: this is just speculation, of course)
In terms of MMA performance, both qualities are easily trainable, as they are not the primary attribute and/or skill. Other than with GS, it is only recently that most camps have had more than absolute shit in terms of S&C coaching. So while some people (considering women, since this is their thread) will obviously have more power and others more stamina, there remains no freakin' excuse for running out of gas as Amanda is prone to do.
It's not either-or. You can improve your cardio and not lose strength. Gadelha said she was beating the shit out of her body right up to the day of the fight also. She is supposedly training much more intelligently these days so she has energy for fight day.
This isn't simply "more muscle=low cardio, less muscle=more cardio" as you are saying.
No, of course not. This conversation started out with me talking about Gadelha only needing to bump her cardio up enough to not gas before the end of the 3rd round. Considering how poorly she was supposedly training, I think doing that and keeping her strength is a reasonable possibility. So you are saying that Nick Diaz could be built like Tyrone Woodley and still fight with the same pace and volume he normally does? If he could do that he would be unbeatable.
Nunes is weird. She gasses so suddenly and completely. And it's usually after she's been winning the fight, doing what she wants to do.

Maybe it's to do with her sinusitis
Did anyone see Dana's recent interview where he said Amanda had spoken to him about his cleared to fight comments and that now everything is fine between them.
My take: Nunes acquainted him with details of the Saturday scan, reminded him that the UFC doctor clears no one to fight, that's the job of the commission and introduced him to her lawyer J Noble Daggett.
Wouldn't be surprised if the UFC paid her training expenses. Nunes by verbal submission.
Oh and Nunes duck threads disappear pretty quickly from the heavies as well.
Nunes does not just magically gas in the second round. It all depends on how much energy she has to expend during the 1st round. All the punches and back and forth grappling in the 1st of Cats fight is what drained her faster. Her fight vs Val was a lot of stalling in the standup and ground with Nunes picking when to ground and pound. This is why she had more energy during the Val fight. If you make Nunes work for her takedowns and GNP like Joanna does to Claudia then Nunes will gas by the middle of the second round. I am not sure if Vals takedown defend is that good to do it in a 3 round fight and win. I know for sure her chances go up by a ton now that its a 5 round fight though.Yes, strange indeed. But she used to gas in the second, and appears to be getting better. She was fine in the second against Val, but then fell apart in the third. Still think Shevchenko takes a five round decision.

I did not mean to imply you did said that. I just stated that as a lead in sentence to explain why sometimes she does and sometimes she does not gas in the second. My fault for the confusion.I did not say that she did.
damn, what the hell is wrong with sherdog. it doesn't work on chrome anymore. it barely works on explorer, and sometimes it doesn't work there.
Anyway, here is an interview I did a couple days ago with Raquel Pa'aluhi. I really hope she pulls this off. she is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

As an amateur she went 6-0-0, five of those being round one victories via a combination of Armbars, chokes and TKO’s. She’s looked just as impressive as a pro with TKO victories over Chrissie Daniels and Tushara Veerella, as well as a dominant decision over Rachel Sazoff. She’ll be looking to make a statement in her Invicta FC debut, and eventually challenge for the atomweight world title.
Invicta FC 25 takes place on August 31st from the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California, United States. The event will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
