Don't see how anyone can doubt @RR anymore

Don't they need to clear up ~$25mil in cap space to get him? So either they lose Gordon or Ryno (or both) for CP0?

edit: Clips primed to be the worst team in the league without CP0 and Blake. Disgruntled Doc forcing his way out imminent. He'll probably extend his kid to the max then start leaking that the organization isn't supporting him.

Can't believe the Trail Blazers are on pace to be the highest payroll this season by $12mil. How the hell are Meyers Leonard and some guy named Mo Harkless making $10mil a year each?

I truly believe the salary cap/max contracts ruin parity in the league. Top players make so much more external to the game that it makes sense to play in big markets and with other stars to increase their visibility (I remember Bish complained about that before going to Miami). All of the small/mid market teams try to compensate by overpaying Alvin Crabb and Ballsack Biyombo, putting them in mediocrity.

Of course, this is dependent on big market teams understanding the cap, their advantage and not being incompetent like the Knicks and Lakers (pic unrelated).
They could keep a hard cap and give each team one exception for a single contract with no ceiling that doesn't affect the cap

So the hard cap would be for 14 roster spots and then the 15th would be reserved for a "franchise player" with no cap

EDIT: I misread your post. There will always be big and small markets. Nothing you can really do about that. And there will always be incompetent front offices that give out terrible contracts. Fuck em, that's their problem. It distorts the market temporarily but that usually sorts itself out

I think a hard cap and/or modifying Bird rights and trade rules would help small market teams if max contracts are eliminated. Right now there is 0 incentive for top players to go to small markets because the money will be equal(ish) and they will get more endorsement money. Allowing smaller teams to spend more would give them a way to equalize with bigger market teams who can get guys at a relative discount because it is a league mandated max, not what the player commands.

If you made it so only truly core players could put you over the cap and then not give teams an easy out for bad contracts, you'd see less super teams. GMs would still probably be dumb and given Mike Conley more money than Kawhi, but that's their own fault.

Hard cap is never going to be introduced when a soft cap allows teams to splash star money on scrub role players.

Screamin A saying Spuds offered Kawhi for KP lmfao, someone needs to tell that fool to stfu

would also expose bad front offices even more. I like the idea.
Could possibly happen but I think you would see fewer and fewer rookies. Especially if the player union has their say. They want extra money available to the veterans. That was one of the reasons for the no high school rule. Teams were drafting players and they were sitting on the bench taking a roster spot from a veteran.

Besides a few top rookies why would you take someone who would normally go in the 16th spot instead of a veteran or younger player who has already proven themselves.

Lol at you :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:s wanting a hard cap. It would make the entire league like the mid tier east. No one wants to watch that shit.

I want to see the league do away with luxury taxes all together. Why punish teams for not being cheap asses?

I cant fuckin stand DOC, he is a POS.

His sorry ass knew he was going to play for an owner that had racial baggage and then when sterling said his shit, Doc acted all high and mighty. Motherfucker didn't have any problem takin those paychecks from a know racist for years. Then people started acting like doc was a victim and he was "going through something".

Because then all your teams with huge TV contracts have unlimited money to spend versus smaller markets.

When did K. Thompson start training with Jon Jones?

lol and then when all the fans of teams realize they cant compete and teams start to fold, what then.

i guess you just wanna watch 8 teams?

If boston NY, LA, clips, Portland and one or two other teams spend 350 million while the rest of the league spends 200 million (if that) and fans realize their team is not even competitive, what then?

I guess you just wanna watch a league with 8 superteams
