I'm not aware of his financial situation, but it would be an unforgivable sin for Japan if a national treasure like Saku was not properly compensated.

Takada ripped off Sakuraba of all his Pride purses, which is why Sakuraba ultimately left Pride. Apparently Enson Inoue doesn't have a single good thing to say about Takada either:
