Leg grabs are still there and matches are being won with them.

Chinese judokas win gold in four of past five Olympiads. While the United States has never won an Olympic judo medal, they will look to Kayla Harrison to reach the podium. The Ohio native is coached by two-time Olympic bronze medalist Jimmy Pedro and his father.

Quick get Ronda Rousey on the phone.

I'm guessing they meant judo gold medal.

I could name several US Medalists.

an olympic combat thread would be good
I'd like to discuss judo, wrestling boxing and even tkd and fencing

guys, someone can link me a site where i see the judo bouts?
i am in Europe and nbc doesn't work.

Can someone link me to the YouTube highlight of a judoka who is famous for the cartwheel reversals and regular reversals of throws?

I know it's been linked before here, but I'm not turning it up with the keywords I'm trying.

It's a bit of a hybrid, kind of a body-lock Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi or twisting Ura Nage, depending on how much he does or doesn't block the outside foot.

Carrera26, obrigado!

I am using the link both for an article and to show my younger brother what judoka are capable of beyond throws.

In this Olympics alone I've seen dozens of instances of posting out (sometimes using the head). No point doing it if you're not a top competitor, but if you are it seems like a perfectly viable way to nullify a throw.
