NYC Just Reported First Weekend w/o a Shooting on Record

So all the other liberal cities that have seen crime increase and had shootings...

Looks like Sam Alvey.

"A city of 8.6 million people — not a single shooting for three days," Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Monday, according to CNN.

Hat's off to the librul schzitholes!

Multiculturalism is clearly a failed experiment doomed to die the living death.

I'm very happy about this news, but it's not like all the big liberal cities are having record drops in violent crime. Something is unique about New York. Chicago, Baltimore, etc. All continue to have horrid problems particularly with gang related firearm violence

What is NYC doing differently than the others? It's not the gun control, Chicago is even stricter. Is it policing crackdowns? A harsh crackdown period followed by an easement and investment into troubled communities? Is policing simply a constant factor and this change has in someway come from within the communities themselves?

I'd love to know what NYC is doing differently than the others and then attempt to apply those principles

Gentrification.

Hmm. How bout off-the-record shootings? Murder stats are twisted because many go unreported due to victim shaming.

Those numbers can't be real!!!!

They have over an estimated half a million illegal immigrants in that shithole city. That's about 6% of the population. Shouldn't there be a violent murder/rape crime every minute of the hour???

It's gun violence only.

We all know they prefer knives.

Apparently it's because NYPD moved some personnel around?
NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan told the newspaper that the department's focus on preventing retaliatory violence has been effective.

"We moved personnel around to try to prevent retaliation and it works," he said. "One [shooting] can turn into five if we're not on top of it."

Hooooow in the wild blue fuck are yall already being negative?

We should all be happy!
Do you think this is going to be a reoccurring trend or was it an anomaly?

Gentrification. A lot of the people in the lower income brackets have been priced out.

For its massive population, New York City actually has a shockingly small amount of violent crime when compared to the other top 10 cities in the US. Whatever the reason(s), they're indeed doing a good job there

The drop in crime has been a recurring trend for three decades, New York City feels like and is the safest large - top 25 - city in the United States and it's obvious a lot of people haven't been there. Everyone should make the trip at least once (five times for me so far), a truly unique metropolis.

The best steakhouse in the world (probably).

Other great restaurants that come to mind are Quality Meats, Peter Luger (Brooklyn), Gotham Bar & Grill, Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, Jean Georges, Babbo, Momofuku Ssam Bar, Lobster Joint (Brooklyn), Patsy's Pizza (Harlem)... I mean, it's arguably the culinary capital of the world so the options are fucking endless.

The architecture is sick too, so much variation.

That's great!

But LOL at this being a multicultural sucess. There's still segregation and wait until the numbers become unbalanced and the types of immigrants change.

This happened because white hipsters moved in and people of color were pushed out.
