I just caught a piece on France24 on how the Gobi desert is getting larger and larger each year. Much of it's increase was due to the ordered deforestation for factories.

50 years later, sand from the Gobi is making up a large part of the air pollution in Beijing.

Enter, the Great Green Wall of China.
