That wouldn't happen anytime soon. The Dems like the Reps have a lot of groups under one tent and there has always been in fighting which is normal.

I think W did a pretty good job of trying to court the Gay community but since then the Reps have done everything they can to ostracize them. As long as the Rendell/Clinton wing keeps them from going full Sanders on the economy and Reps keep fighting tooth and nail on gay marriage you won't see any movement.
