What is being taken out of context, exactly?

Her comments were inappropriate and offensive. You can express support for the cause, but as soon as you make it political like she did, those comments of support seem phony, and the offensive comments will overshadow them.
I guarantee that most people outraged by this woman read just that tweet and none of the ones before or after it. That is the very definition of out of context .

It's insensitive, but out of context it sounds so much worse.

Which is what she deserves for making such an asinine comment.

Would you offer the same amount of courtesy to a racist, who prefaces their racist comments, with "I'm not racist, but..."

Because that's basically what she did.

"I really support the cause, and my heart bleeds for everyone involved, but..."

That's bullshit.

If a regular old bus crash happened where 16 ordinary people were killed, it would make headlines and be a big deal and make headlines.

What set this off is it's rarity, age of victims, and the fact that people can relate to the victims and their families. It's got nothing to do with race.

So, not race then? You seriously think if a junior basketball team's bus full of black teens got smashed, killing half the team, there wouldn't be an outpouring amount of coverage and support for them because...they're black? Give it a fucking rest.
You are delusional if you think a regular bus crash would raise 12 million dollars and have it's own donut at fucking Tim Hortons.

Sorry. Nothing puts a statement like that in context. Except maybe "I'm a giant fucking asshole"

I honestly can't say, because it's such a rare occurrence.

Do you have anything to base your opinion on?

You don't think a bunch of teenagers on their way to a hockey game being wiped off the face of the earth maybe strikes home for a country where a large percentage of us grew up doing the same thing?

Of course it does, that is why it struck a nerve and raised so much money. That is exactly my point.

Common sense

So if it was a bus with AA high school basketball players you don't think the reaction would be the same?

I say bull shit on that.

I don't know about you, but some ghoul making light of this tragedy on social media because they're the wrong colour is not where the focus should lie, it's on news outlets like CBC standing up for her.

Sure, she's got the legal right to be a ghoul, and the CBC can legally defend her, long love free speech, but as a society we should all decry this behavior as unacceptable.

I don't know if I would describe what she did as "making light" of the crash but I agree that she's a ghoul. I didn't see what CBC had to say about this, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them covering for her. That outlet is constantly running stories and opinion pieces portraying Canadians as bigoted scumbags. I'm sure that's partly because they're staffed with a lot of SJW douchebags, but also because racial polarization is the hottest media trend of the last few years and they want a piece too. That's why they and all the rest of them tripped over their dicks when it came to the #HijabHoax. I just don't think that we should have to pay for the pleasure of this media outlet to constantly run us down as racist pieces of shit. I've actually made several complaints to their ombudsman about some of their content and have never gotten any satisfaction from her.

There would obviously be support, but no, the reaction would not be the same.

We agree she's a ghoul at least, I just don't think she's relevant so her exact intentions don't interest me.

Yeah, I'm a glutton and watch CBC religiously, they spoke at length about it, they even had a laughable panel about it, which went as you imagine it did.

I'll say this, people see the bias, it's not as if it's concealed so as far as I'm concerned the more off the rails the CBC goes, the better.

See now, here you are again.

Yeah, cause Canadians are notoriously racist. We'd probably just burn crosses at the funeral TBH.

I agree, but I think that has more to do with them playing hockey and not basketball than anything else.

I'm not optimistic. Political correctness is so deeply rooted in Canadian culture and we don't have the kind of free press America has. Our charter of rights is horribly written to deny free speech, that's why we dont see radio shows like Howard stern or joe rogan in Canada.

I'd love to believe there is a coming backlash to this insanity but I just dont see the evidence. Canadians are pacified.
Bitching about no free speech while this outlier idiot used free speech, and you are outraged.

The right wing grabbed onto this like major snow flakes and made it viral. Why give her the attention unless of course you have your own agenda?

If constantly go looking for stupid people that say stupid things just to make you outraged, maybe its you that has the problem. It certainly serves no descent purpose.

She essentially complained about all the money being raised online for them, and said people only cared because they were white males that died.

It takes a special kind of asshole to politicize a tragedy like that.
And a special kind of assholes to give it oxygen to push their views and outrage. You are no different, same pea in the pod.

Hey is your username a reference to the metal band?

Every thread that I open regarding someone on the left acting like an ass, has the same pack of left leaning twats rolling in and playing the old "you alt-reich sure get worked up about what some nobody said".

Yet I can turn on 6 different left wing US news networks right this moment and within five minutes be told that the balance of the fucking universe hangs on every word of a hailed out pornstar.

What a fucking bizarre time to be alive.
