Nick Newell gets Contender Series nod from Dana White

I like how come people think that just cause he lost to Justin geathje that means he has to be trash.

I get not all fighters on it are 20 years old but almost all them come from lfa which is a prospect feeder group to get people to the ufc.
LFA has a good relationship with the UFC (many local orgs do) but they are a stand-alone business, don't get it twisted. Bellator has taken guys from LFA too and I still refute your point of calling them prospects. Eryk Anders came from LFA and he was a champion that vacated, hardly a prospect, same thing with Markus Perez, Andrea Lee and Roberto Sanchez. All contenders really.

You can't beat somebody whose left hook is an actual hook.
Jacare would destroy Newell

He's better than a lot of current UFC fighters even with one arm, but like said this is an attention grab more so than goodwill or seeing him as a talent.

Right, that's what a lot of us were saying 3 years ago.

When he was 10-0 in WSOF and very active Dana completely scoffed at the idea of him even being on TUF. He's had one fight in the last 3 years. How else do you explain the sudden change?
He just fought again and looked good=ufc opportunity. He also fought in lfa that gets a lot more ufc eyes and is basically their feeder league. I think people are reading too much into this

It might not be the UFC, but it’s one step closer.

UFC president Dana White has extended an offer to Nick Newell for a Tuesday Night Contender Series fight this summer, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed Wednesday night. An impressive victory there would surely lead to a UFC contract. ESPN was the first to report the news.

“I want to thank Dana White, Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard for believing in me and giving me a shot,” Newell told Helwani. “I still have to go out there and deliver. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Good move on Dana's part

so many people now a days with lfa fight pro debuts or have a few fights under there belt.

you wouldn't called an 19 year old sage northcutt a prospect

Sean O'Malley not a prospect when he signed with lfa at 21 years old.

to be honest I call any one who not signed to a big time promotion as a prospect.
