They basically paid him an amount that is only reasonable if he plays like his MVP year every year, and put themselves in that situation by not having a single other position of strength. My God, Sparks is a fucking terrible back up. God help them if Andersen ever gets banged up.

Sparks had a good game last night. He just needs more time in the NHL. But Babs doesn’t want to play him. He expects Anderson to play 75 games a season + playoffs. It’s crazy.

Mac was a great backup but he’s not doing well this season and he’s old. Sparks was the best goalie in the AHL last year and he’s still a kid. Would be hard for a GM to justify keeping an old guy under those circumstances.

Babs just needs to play Sparky more. After last night the leafs are first in the NHL. They have a cushion. It’s time to rest Mr. Anderson and give sparks some experience.
