ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday that the Chiefs have “emerged as a candidate” to trade for All-Pro safety Earl Thomas if the Seattle Seahawks decide to move him. It’s unclear if the Chiefs and Seahawks have had actual discussions about a deal, but Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com was told by a source that Kansas City has been persistent in inquiring.
It'll help a lot. You can tell this defense misses berry. If they get Earl, that can let berry rest longer and be ready for the late season the playoffs (if KC makes it)

What's earl's contract right now?

Probably could’ve thrown in a few washed out pornstars and saved a few million.
Sorry I ignored your other post, I see you looking for some attention, Hi bud.

lol steelers were -3 last week, now TB is -1.5.
hope fitzmagic pulls a rabbit out of big rape's ass tonight

You mean like him reportedly turning down 4 years 17-18M from the Patriots before he even played for the 49ers? Or the fact that the short large contract he could have gotten by rejecting the 49ers contracts was still in play, it's called the franchise tag.

He doesn't get a deal he likes -> He rejects the offers and gets tagged. He makes 24M in 2018 and if all goes the same gets hurt. The niners are going to pay him then? Or the sample size isn't any bigger so you tag him again. He makes 30M or whatever it is in 2019. In 2020 he is a UFA again, no way you can tag him a 3rd time. If he really is worth the contract he has all the leverage to bend you over and QB contracts have climbed another 20%.

Signing him early -> You pay him more over the first two years vs tagging him -> 2020 offseason you can control him the next 3 years below market value for QBs or cut him without any dead money. That 74M guarantee you keep throwing out is for injury only, but I'm sure you already knew that.
“They had no options!” Yes, they did.

immy Garoppolo will be making $42.6 million in the first year of his new contract with the San Francisco 49ers, according to numbers posted today by Adam Schefter of ESPN. The $42.6 million is part of a front-loaded 5-year, $137.5 million deal that will pay Garoppolo $86.4 million over the first three years and $61.2 million over the first two years, which is $10 million more than he would have made had he played under the franchise tag in 2018 and 2019

Well see how it all turns out for them. In all honesty Im bummed to see it and hope he comes back to form.

Figured I’d try to lighten the mood a bit. Puto looks like he got you a one way ticket to rustlemania.

Andy Reid in playoff form.

Last year of his real. I would think the chiefs would have veto agree to a long term deal if a trade is made. No way you make that trade and not have something in place long term

So you think paying him the franchise tag twice is a better option? Honest question.

I think that is 100% the wrong answer. For the reasons I stated.

Puto is a good guy and he knows a little football, but he's still a casual when he goes on these crusades. Legit call a co-worker pal/buddy and he takes offense because how condescending it is lol.

He's in the last year of a 40 mill/4 contract, so there's really no downside cap-wise, it's just that you might only be getting a renta-player. I was thinking today that the Chiefs would be the only team in the AFC I'd believe in deep in the playoffs, but then I remembered that defense. If they can get Mahomes some help this season and see if he can make a deep run, that could be worth the risk.

No, but I think they get something done in between his ridiculous contract for the sample size and having to franchise tag him repeatedly.

Too much $ for too small a sample. Regardless of position.

The niners had no other option than to pay two guys who have yet to play an entire season as the primary starters almost 200 mil combined.

Why would he ever accept less money then the franchise tag is paying him? What does it matter if the niners pay 5M too much in 2018 and 2019?

Would Jimmy Gayboy have signed a contract similar to what Keenum signed?

On to more important things, I need DJax to score less than 1.32 points in PPR format.

Weve confirmed the only option was to give Jimmy a blank check and let him fill it in.

lol the real option was to pay him less then any sane agent would take.

For sure. I mean they have all the leverage with a whopping 5 games under their belt.

Legit time to call Kaep. Dead serious. Save the ratings and profits for the season.
