It's such an overrated movie for people who put a lack of flaw above actual risk taking and quality
I can go on and on. Fact is Shawshank is a made-for-tv movie with a bigger budget. Good movie. Very good. But fucking hell the overratedness it gets is unreal.

I can name about 30 movies better.

I like Godfather 1 and 2, Alien, Aliens, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, etc... those are all great. But, I don't think Shawshank is overrated at all. It's up there with all the other movies in my opinion.

well, which movie i would watch again is different than which movie is better. for example i have watched bloodsport or karate kid literally dozens of times and could easily watch them dozens more. i consider dead poets society twice and consider it a "better" movie. however, i dont really want to see it again

It's hard to name a better movie. There are plenty of movies I like more than Shawshank...but that doesn't mean they are better movies. Shawshank is perfect.

Shawshank isn't even the best prison movie, Green Mile is
