This is the 8th year that I've kept a training log on Sherdog. I started off with basically no lifting experience & worked up to competing in Scottish Highland Games, Jiujitsu Tournaments & a couple of Powerlifting meets.

2018 was a rough year for several reasons. Changed jobs, huge increase in work & travel, and 3 melanoma surgeries kept me away from the gym quite a bit.

For 2019, I'm really trying to be more consistent. Need to do jiujitsu at least twice a week & keep up the workouts in the gym. Starting off the year trying out the Juggernaut Method program so I can get some lighter weight, high-rep work in.

BJJ - 1 Hour

Private lesson with Ricardo - continued working on knee shield & guard. Also worked from the top on control positions when passing knee shield. Really good stuff - will continue next week.

1 hour class, working on a sweep from open guard, then 30 minutes sparring. Just worked guard & tried not to get passed.

1 Hour class, worked a choke from knee slice. then worked guard specific training. Then 1 hour sparring.

BJJ - 1.5 hours

Went to the Beginner class today. Back was sore & ended up working with a 350 lb guy for the entire class, which didn't help my back. Did a few rounds of light sparring after. I survived.

Taking a bit longer to warm up seems to be helping everything. Happy with 23 reps with overhead press. Moving Training Max to 160 for the next cycle.
