Muslim Woman's Artwork Removed from Canadian University for being offensive to Muslims

What a bunch of bitches.

But but the christians... So I guess they are right for whining about piss christ, and the like? How about no, they weren't, and neither are these gaping holes. Art isn't all about what makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I have to begrudgingly admit that art just shouldn't be censored, at least not in the context of an art show. For myself, this piece is a notch above the sort of stuff that comes off as lazy because its purpose is just to be shocking, like that portrait of the Virgin Mary accompanied by pornography and covered in elephant dung.

The overwhelming majority of adults cannot make art.
If art is only art based on the creator then I would imagine EVERYONE can make art isn't it?

So..... the penis I drew in the snow with my urine was art.

Which the OP illustrates wonderfully.
But then you come to the realization that the overwhelming majority of art is made by adults.

So?

Your original definition was that art is something that can't be made by a child. It can be made by a child, and non-children are not necessarily capable of it either. Your definition sucks dick.

I realize that searches aren't the first but my understanding was on school grounds, when you're a student, a ton of your rights are either taken away or severely hampered.

I just threw the 1st out there as essentially a placeholder.

There have been a lot of famous cases that have gone to the Supreme Court revolving around student rights in school. One of them had to do with wearing black armbands to protest the Vietnam War (1st amendment rights), there have been a lot that have to do with illegal searches (4th), etc. They are actually really interesting to read if you ever have the time to waste doing so.

But in the end, students maintain their rights in school. For example, if you want to pray in school, the school 100% has to let you pray. They even have to provide a safe location for you to do so. That is protecting your 1st amendment right, the free exercise clause.

However the school is unable to make you pray or to promote prayer, also because of the 1st amendment. There is the establishment clause.

Your comprehension sucks dick. That's simply an objective starting point for idiots like you who lose themselves while watching a plastic bag flying around a court yard saying "I...it....it's so beautiful"

You guys hijacked the art world for long enough. Go take your garbage else where.

Who hijacked the art world?

Just go ask the average Muslim their thoughts on what happened to the Charlie Hebdo staff and you'll be hard pressed to find any real sympathy. I remember immediately after the Charlie Hebodo massacre a poll done on Muslims in Britain showed that something like 30% supported or at least sympathized with with the killers.

Absolute madness the future we are creating for ourselves.

The work put in by the jihadis who attacked Charlie Hebdo - and the howling mobs who attacked Danish embassies, and the guy who killed Theo Van Gogh, and the extremists who murdered translators of Rushdie's Satanic Verses, etc - has greatly helped every Islamic organization that agitates for special treatment for Muslims. Because behind all the flowery social justice rhetoric of not wanting to offend lies a valid fear of being targeted for violence by extremists.

Mozart created art at 5. People have no clue about art at all. And Dali at 6. Funny how kids apparently CAN create art.

I am completely against censoring art, regardless of who it offends.

I also kind of like that piece of art. Painting a nude female body on an Islamic prayer mat is a fairly interesting idea. You have the beauty of a prayer mat, and you have the beauty of the female body. Yet seeing them together brings a feeling of taboo, instead of anything that you would feel seeing them separately. The Islamic culture is full of beauty, I think they have some of the most beautiful art and architecture in the world. Yet the culture tends to reject, conceal, or create a taboo around the beauty of the human body?

I like it, they should have kept it. I mean it's not exactly subtle, but nobody should be apologizing for art. Some people will think it's dumb, some will think it's great, some will be offended. That's kind of the point.
You're cool with art of good ole boys hanging black people then?

Do you have a favorite artist? Or even a favorite band, director, etc.?
I like Dali for the most part since my brother introduced me to him. Michelangelo for his sculpting. really like Lora zombie as well.

Fuck em. If they don't want to live in a society with free speech they should go back to the fucking desert.

Just googled Lora Zombie, it's pretty rare to see somebody use primarily watercolors. That's pretty cool.

That's why I like her so much. Using water color is hard enough and she does it very well.
