Multiple Fighters in the Lidell vs Ortiz 3 PPV Making Less than 10k

a dude is getting paid only $1000, do they only get the bonus if they win? dude is literally putting his life on the line for a poxy 1k smh. He cant be making much money after expenditures

You do understand that he still has to pay taxes, manager fees (typically 20%), then pay back some to his coach, for letting him train for free and not pay monthly gym dues like other paying students.

10 yrs ago if you were a pro fighter, even with a decent record, you’d get 300-500 bucks to show and purse is doubled for the win on a local pro org fighting at some Indian casino. Tons of the best pros we see today started out that way.

MMA has never been a lucrative sport. Only certain figures can make a true living on it and very rarely one makes a long term living off it.

Deron Winn making 5k is a joke, he's the best fighter on the card.

Also, pretty dumb to pay the main eventers 500k. I wouldn't be surprised if they fail to make 500k off ppv buys alone, almost nobody is gonna buy that shit.

It is underpaid for Winn, but its kind of a good deal. No where else will he get such attention for a 1-fight deal. He already has a Bellator win.

So a win tomorrow is best case scenerio to create a mini bid war between the org's for his services.

You see he is wrestling in an allstar duel 6 days after this?

Which is why I said "He cant be making much money after expenditures"

Tito vs chael isnt a freakshow .rampage vs wand is borderline since rampage is fat and wandy is old.

Isnt brock Lesnar returning in the UFC and being gifted a title shot no less?

Point being these fights didnt bring the viewers that kimbo did.Kimbo was bellators McGregor guaranteed draw vs anyone.

And it still doesn't prove anything about your ridiculous pay claims.

duh a fight on free tv out draw a ppv.

making money still part of the game.

You dont make any sense .....

I would assume they (at least headliner) would get cut from ppv sales, no?

I’d also be interested in seeing (though we will never know) what they made from sponsors.

When Reebok came along, losing sponsor dollars was a big issue, and fighters that went to bellator spoke of income generated by sponsors.

Whoa i thought i was looking at reebok payouts there for a second!
Reebok payouts pound for pound have a much huger impact. They work synergistically to maximize fighter income to the levels of the top .01% of earners, imo.
Show me a fighter under the Reebok deal who has money problems, and I'll point out a degenerate crack smoker.

Ed Herman had to get a construction job last summer to make ends meat. Will that work for ya?

You get paid what you're worth...most of the time. Never heard of any of them besides Chuck, Tito, Efrain, Lawler, and Tibau. Still, pretty shitty. On a positive note - no WMMA on this.

Unless this cheap bastard plans on paying real money...even having to go into debt if necessary to do it... Golden Boy will never go anywhere as far as MMA.

It would've been better to scrap half of those fights and divide the same purse up to a smaller group of better fighters.

For anyone concerned for Chuck and Tito's pay, they each get 30% of the PPV (and IIRC gate too). I doubt the PPV sells very well, but 30% should net them each some more money (at least double the disclosed salary in the OP)

?

The promotion generally only gets 50% of the PPV to begin with. If Chuck & Tito get 30% + 30%, that would leave Golden Boy losing 10% on every buy.

Prelim guys are making Bellator prelim money but whats more surprising is Tibau and Lawlor making so little. You mean to tell me Bellator, Rizin, PFL, OneFC, KSW wouldnt have signed Lawlor and given him more than that?

Unless his wrestling stuff is something other orgs wont ok and this was a one and done fight for a few bucks after two years off cause of USADA and then after he'll figure it out then ok but who knows.

Oscar talking about UFC pay and how he's gonna share with fighters and then comes out and pays guys like this. Really we all know this is one and done, once he got that Canelo/DAZN deal and how he acted as the press conference I dont think he even cares about this anymore.
