4 years ago, I started the Muay Thai High channel. I mainly uploaded breakdown videos as a way to make notes for the fights that I watched and studied. I was blown away by the amount of positive feed back that I received. Many people have reached out to me letting me know that they have learnt a lot from watching my videos. I was and still am greatly flattered<BC1>

In 2017-2019, I was actively competing in MMA and jiu jitsu, so I put a pause on the channel. During this time, I also began to slowly transitioned into a coach, and have found my passion in teaching in the process. In December 2019, I became a professional software developer and striking coach.

Martial arts has been my life style for 6 years. And with my new found passion in teaching, I have been looking for ways to deliver my martial arts teaching online. Because I already have developed the Muay Thai High channel, I decided to leverage it to fulfill my goal. And since 2020, I have uploaded many new content to my youtube channel. I am excited to share them with you <NewGina>

Starting July 3rd, 2021, I will be teaching striking again (previously stopped because of the pandemic). Please look forward to more videos in the near future. Thank you for your support.

I'm guessing you guys are in Hawaii and come from an MMA background?

False and false haha I wouldn't say I have a background as I train Muay Thai Wrestling and Jiu jitsu all at once ever since I started :)

which one is you? I assume you're blue cuz blue is dominating the whole fight.

Yeah I am blue, but I thought the sparring round was pretty back and forth, my friend just doesn't have as much cardio as I do (even though mine sucks too)

That was nasty. I could see how red was controlling the center of the ring and slowly pressuring blue into throwing something. With is guard protecting his center line, not having any tells to react to, and the distance slowly crumbling, blue broke and started throwing hooks from a distance. What a mind game!

I agree, how he could just absorb those hard shots from a bigger opponent because of his amazing defense was definitely a thing to see

Ah, ok. I thought the shirts said HILIFE at first (which is a brand from Hawaii).

You guys seem to move around a shitload, which isn't exactly like how Thais spar and more of an MMA style. Could be because of the open mat area and not in a ring.

I'm all for light sparring but why not actually put shinguards on (even cloth ones) and go light to the head and 50% or whatever to the body to the body? Just seems like you're going to ingrain bad habits (like pulling your head kick for fear of hitting your sparring partner accidentally with a bare shin).

Even at 50%, you can still drill reactions, etc to stuff.

Yeah the guys at my gym like the move a lot probably because of the open space. I personally don't like to move that much but I gotta adapt haha

I definitely understand where you are coming from. Because me and my other training partner (not shown in my videos because he doesn't want to be seen) have mma fights coming up soon, we just wanted to get used to the small gloves and kicking without shinpads

Cool sparring videos dude. Do you train mma/wrestling as much as you do striking? Or do you just favor MT? What is your record in MT/kickboxing?

I train just as much, but I think my gym has more grappling classes than striking in general.
My current training schedule goes like this (until Sept starts)
MT - 4 times a week
Boxing - Once a week
MMA/Nogi - 3 times a week
BJJ w/ GI - 4 times a week
Running - 50K a week
Strength training - 3 times a week
Then once a week my friend comes over and we drill and spar (stand up only) for like 2-3 hours

I personally favor MT more, as I am saving up for Thailand next year. Ideally I would like to make a career out of MT / Kickboxing. TBH I like grappling / MMA just as much. But it kinda gets annoying having to worry about takedown when I strike lol.

I actually haven't fought yet but I have a kickboxing / MT bout in Sept and a MMA bout in November. So I am kinda looking forward to that haha
