Jake Busey to Play the Son of Gary Busey's Character in THE PREDATOR

Jake Busey (Starship Troopers, Identity) has revealed to The Red Booth (via Pop Culture) that his role in 20th Century Fox and Shane Black‘s sequel The Predator is, in fact, the son of his dad Gary Busey’s Peter Keyes character from Predator 2.

“[Shane Black] called me and he said ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son,’” Busey said. “And so as much as I have followed in my Dad’s footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played. And I don’t think there would be any other forum where I would do that. I think this is the one thing.” He also added, “If you liked the very first movie a lot, you’ll really like this one. This one has a lot of essence of the first movie.”

The character of Keyes has an interesting history, as screenwriters Jim and John Thomas (who also wrote the first Predator) had intended the role to be Dutch, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character. The part was then rewritten as a special agent posing as DEA in order to capture the Predator as it roamed Los Angeles. Keyes ultimately met an untimely end in his pursuit of the creature. Gary Busey himself also played one of the main villains (Mr. Joshua) in Lethal Weapon, the first produced script by Shane Black.

Thats a good point. Martin Campbell is legit with these types of movies though. He made Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

'A FUCKING ALIEN'

He has to say that line.

I think that's the first time I've seen Jackie use a gun.

Really?

So, you've never seen any other Jackie movies?

He used guns way back in his early-ish Hong Kong career.

Police Story series........maybe sooner

I forgot about Police Story, but I still have zero memories of him using a gun.

I remember him pointing guns around, but never actually firing them. Time for a marathon.

He definitely shot at mother fuckers in New Police Story (2005):

But I must admit no recollections come to mind specifically in the first 3 (I'm sure he must have).

But a good excuse for a marathon.

But yeah, Jackie is no stranger to shooting guns in his films.

Why not. This thing seems campy and silly enough that a tribute like this wouldn't be out of place.

Lamar Johnson Joins X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX; Evan Peters to Return as Quicksilver

Lamar-Johnson-Dark-Phoenix-062917-Dragonlord.jpg

Evan Peters is rejoining the X-Men. The actor, who played the breakout character Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse, is reprising his role as the mutant speedster for X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Also coming on board the movie, which is beginning production in Montreal this week, is Lamar Johnson, one of the stars of the BAFTA Award-winning Canadian show The Next Step. Johnson's character is being kept under wraps.

Dark Phoenix is bringing back the recent mainstays of the X-Men franchise — Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult — as well as reuniting the younger actors of Apocalypse — Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee — as it adapts a key storyline from the X-Men comics.

Longtime X-Men steward Simon Kinberg is writing and making his directorial debut with the movie, which is slated to open Nov. 2, 2018.

Peters' Quicksilver was not part of the story when it was first told in the comic book medium, but the character has become an audience favorite with his appearances in the two previous X-Men movies.
