Eva Green in Talks to Star in Tim Burton's DUMBO Movie for Disney

Eva-Green-Dumbo-Dragonlord.jpg

Eva Green is in talks to star in Tim Burton’s Dumbo, the live-action adaptation of the 1941 animated classic for Disney. The actress is being eyed for one of the three main adult roles in the title, which is edging closer and closer towards a production start.

A Green-Burton reunion would make a lot of sense given the sizzling actress seems to be the director’s new muse, and Burton has a habit of working again and again with actors he likes.

Green played the title character in Burton’s family fantasy Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, based on the novel by Ransom Riggs. She also starred in Burton’s vampire comedy Dark Shadows alongside Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The live-action remake of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger, who produces with Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy). Disney’s original version focused on a big-eared, lovable circus elephant, who is mocked for his large ears but learns to use them as wings to fly.

Uma Thurman Boards Lars Von Trier's Serial Killer Thriller

Uma-Thurman-030717b-Dragonlord.png

Uma Thurman is re-teaming with Lars von Trier for his upcoming thriller The House That Jack Built.

The actress, who first worked with the Danish director on his last feature, Nymphomaniac, joins Siobhan Fallon Hogan (von Trier's Dancer in the Dark, Dogville) among the ranks of unfortunate women who encounter serial killer Jack, played by Matt Dillon. Riley Keough, Sofie Grabol and Bruno Ganz also star.

Zentropa will begin shooting The House That Jack Built in Trollhattan, Sweden, in March and move on to Copenhagen in May.

Set in the U.S. in the 1970s, the story follows Jack as he moves through five incidents and murders that define his development as a serial killer. He views each murder as an artwork in itself, though his dysfunction gives him problems in the outside world. Despite the fact that the final and inevitable police intervention is drawing ever nearer (which both provokes and puts pressure on Jack), he is – contrary to all logic – set on taking greater and greater chances.

Is JUST CAUSE the name of the property, or is it the reason Jason Momoa keeps getting work?

I was given to understand that Katheryn Winnick was in this movie. The distinct lack of her in this trailer is not at all encouraging.

First Images of Charlize Theron and James McAvoy in the Action Thriller ATOMIC BLONDE

ijd.jpg

Two summers ago after Charlize Theron starred in the decaying, post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max: Fury Road. Now, she is re-imagining the Cold War thriller as a femme-fatale master spy who brawls like an MMA star. Atomic Blonde, due out July 28 is a poppy, punk-rock take on the genre by fight choreographer-turned-director David Leitch (John Wick).

It’s Berlin, 1989. Depeche Mode and New Order dominate the airwaves, the wall is about to come down, and Theron’s character Lorraine Broughton is sent into the chaotic city to retrieve a most-wanted dossier. James McAvoy plays her hardened, fur-coated fellow agent.

Theron trained four-to-five hours a day for three months with Leitch and his team of fighters. She tackled multiple-attacker combat scenes and even learned the very tricky MMA skill called a “hanging arm throw” where she flings herself on the ground, landing on her back, to throw another man over her head. It wasn’t easy.

“Let’s be honest, I got my ass handed to me every day,” Theron says of the intense training. “I cracked through two of my teeth in the back of my mouth from clenching so much that I had to have massive dental surgery right before we left for Budapest to shoot the film.”

Plot Details for THOR: RAGNAROK Explains Thor's Short Hair, Loss of Hammer and More

Thor-Ragnarok-Valkyrie-Thor-030917-Dragonlord.png

Haircuts. Swords. Goth eye shadow. All of these elements are part of Thor: Ragnarok. So WTF is this movie about?

When we last saw Thor, he was flying off to figure out who was manipulating the Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron. Eventually, he hears rumblings of trouble in Asgard: His evil brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), has been impersonating their missing father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Loki’s rather lax governing leads to the reemergence of an imprisoned Hela (Cate Blanchett). Thor’s initial encounter with Hela gets him blasted to Sakaar, a barbaric planet ruled by the charming but nefarious Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a tough, hard-drinking warrior hiding out on Sakaar brings the god to the Grandmaster. “Thor is a bit of a fanboy for the Valkyrie, the elite women warriors,” Hemsworth says. Thor is then forced into becoming a gladiator, which leads to his haircut and the loss of his trusty hammer. (His replacement weapons include a pair of swords seen on EW’s cover.)

Sakaar’s most popular and successful gladiator? Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk. Comics fans will recognize this plotline as part of the popular Planet Hulk series. “He’s much more of a character than the green rage machine you’ve seen in the Avengers movies,” Ruffalo says of this new Hulk. “He’s got a swagger. He’s like a god.”

Once Thor and Hulk unite, Ragnarok becomes a sort of road-trip film, with director Taika Waititi drawing inspiration from movies like 48 HRS., Withnail and I, and even Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The director particularly wanted to show off Hemsworth’s comedic abilities, only recently exploited in films like Vacation and Ghostbusters. “He’s so good and underutilized in that department,” Waititi says. “He’s legitimately one of the funniest things in this film.”

Fans will also see some familiar faces, like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange. The New York-based sorcerer met with Thor in the post-credits epilogue of Doctor Strange, and he will help the Asgardian locate Odin. Teases Feige, “There’s not a whole lot that takes place on Earth in this film, and that’s one of the things that does.”

The events of Ragnarok will also help set up Marvel’s biggest Phase 3 installment, Avengers: Infinity War, the first half of which is due in May 2018. But Waititi is adamant that his film will not only stand on its own, it will reinvent the franchise. “A lot of what we’re doing with the film is, in a way, kind of dismantling and destroying the old idea and rebuilding it in a new way that’s fresh,” he says. “Everyone’s got a slightly new take on their characters, so in that way, it feels like [this is] the first Thor.” Just with a little less hair.

Danny DeVito to Join Tim Burton's Live-Action DUMBO for Disney

Danny-DeVito-Dumbo-Disney-Dragonlord.jpg

Danny DeVito may be heading to the Big Top. THR has confirmed that the actor is in talks to join Disney's live-action retelling of Dumbo. Tim Burton is directing the remake of the 1941 animated classic about a baby circus elephant who is made fun of for his large ears and is separated from his mother.

Though plot details are being kept under wraps, the retelling is said to expand and deepen the circus aspect of the story. For example, DeVito would play Medici, who runs a smaller circus that gets acquired by the evil big-top villain Vandemere.

Eva Green is also in talks to play a trapeze artist who works for Vandemere. The project has four human leads (plus the elephant, who will be digitally animated).

DeVito is currently making his Broadway debut in The Price, opposite Mark Ruffalo and Tony Shalhoub. The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star's upcoming films also include the long-gestating Twins sequel Tripletsand Blue Dream Studios' animated Animal Crackers.
