Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary’s Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building...above the fire line.

Alright, I guess this means that Alternate History series they were making for HBO is kaput.

"It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.

These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
Now, two non-episode trilogies at the same time makes me suspect that they will be set in radically different time periods so they both teams don't get on each other's feet.

Maybe one in the post-Episode IX galaxy and the other back in the days of the Old Republic.

JOHN WICK Director David Leitch in Talks to Direct FAST & FURIOUS Spinoff

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is revving up his engines to possibly join the Fast and Furious family.

The director, considered one of the premier action filmmakers currently working in the field with credits such as John Wick and Atomic Blonde under his belt, has emerged as the frontrunner and is in early talks to direct the untitled Fast & Furious spinoff that is to star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

Universal has set a July 26, 2019 release for the movie, which will focus on Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent played by Johnson, and Deckard Shaw, an assassin character who was one of the primary bad guys in the franchise before being redeemed and joining the motley crew of antiheroes that make up the roll call.

Chris Morgan, who has shepherded the franchise's script chores since 2006's Toyko Drift, wrote the script, making it his sixth installment.

The franchise is a crown jewel for Universal as it grossed over $5.1 billion worldwide and it is seeking ways to prolong a film series that has been in the fast lane since 2001.

Leitch's movies have become known for their unrelenting action sequences that are inventive as much as they are bone-crunching and bullet-flying. The filmmaker was a stunt coordinator who then broke into directing as a second unit director, working on movies ranging from Ninja Assassin to Captain America: Civil War. He and partner Chad Stahelski made their directorial debut with 2014’s John Wick.

Joaquin Phoenix in Talks to Play the Joker in Standalone Movie from Todd Phillips

bSW9BxI.jpg

Joaquin Phoenix is the top choice to play the Joker in the upcoming stand-alone movie from The Hangover director Todd Phillips.

Phillips will direct the movie from a script he is co-writing with Scott Silver, the scripter behind 8 Mile and The Fighter. While plot details are largely unknown, the stand-alone is supposed to be set in Gotham City in the early 1980s.

The film is being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment as part of a label of films that can exist outside of the continuity of its shared universe — such as Wonder Woman, Justice League, Batman v Superman, and Man of Steel. Joker is already a part of the existing universe, with Jared Leto starring as the classic villain in 2016's Suicide Squad.

This isn't the first time Phoenix has entertained the idea of super hero movie.

The three-time Oscar nominee was offered the role of DC villain Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman, and was in talks to playDoctor Strangefor Marvel. Ultimately, he passed on both projects, meaning that his participation in Phillips' Joker movie is not a sure thing.

In September, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. was courting Leonardo DiCaprio for the Joker movie.

Phoenix will next be seen in Gus Van Sant's Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot, based on the memoir of late cartoonist John Callahan. The film just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He is also set for the Annapurna western The Sisters Brothers.

Just finished The Ritual (the horror movie by Netflix) and it was great. 8/10. One of my favorite Netflix originals and one of my favorite recent horror movies.

It was well done, good acting, great setting/ atmosphere (gave me a The Witch vibe) and the creature was creepy as hell.

Kinda Blair Witchy, but way better imo.

KITTY PRYDE Movie in the Works from Brian Michael Bendis, Tim Miller

Deadpool director Tim Miller and Brian Michael Bendis, one of the biggest authors in the comic book world, are teaming for an X-Men spinoff.

The duo are developing a project called 143, which will be set in the X-Men universe, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Bendis, who wrote various X-Men comics during his almost 20 years at Marvel, will write the script, while Miller will direct.

143 is a code name for the project which sources say will focus on the character Kitty Pryde, a mutant who can phase through objects. The character was played by Ellen Page in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The project's code name is a reference to Uncanny X-Men No. 143, one of the earliest Pryde stories and her first solo adventure in which she faces a demon alone in the X-Mansion. The issue, by her creators Chris Claremont and John Byrne, was published in 1981.

Pryde has long been an X-Men fan favorite and is influential, serving as an inspiration for Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Collider.com initially wrote about Miller developing the project, for which Bendis was just hired to work on.

Miller broke out as a director with 2016's Deadpool, which went on to become the highest-grossing X-Men film ever with $783 million worldwide.

Bendis surprised the comics industry last year when he joined DC after spending 17 years as a top-billed writer for Marvel, where he created characters such as Miles Morales and Jessica Jones. He also was part of the Marvel Creative Committee that advised Marvel Studios' output through 2015.

BATMAN NINJA English-Language Trailer; Release Date, Synopsis and Voice Cast Announced

Press Release: Prepare to witness the Dark Knight, alongside many of his most famed allies and infamous foes, in an eye-popping anime display you've never seen before when Warner Bros. Japan, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment present Batman Ninja. The all-new, feature-length animated film arrives on Digital starting April 24, 2018, and Blu-ray™ Steelbook, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD on May 8, 2018.

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine transports many of Batman's worst enemies to feudal Japan - along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.

The visually stunning Batman Ninja is the creative result of a trio of anime's finest filmmakers: director Jumpei Mizusaki (Opening animation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) produced the original movie with Warner Bros. Japan. The script was then reinterpreted and rewritten for English-language distribution by award-winning screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia (Supah Ninjas, Afro Samurai). Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers.

Roger Craig Smith (Batman: Arkham Origins) and Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) lead an impressive cast as the voices of Batman and the Joker, respectively. Grey Griffin (Scooby-Doo franchise) and Tara Strong (Batman: The Killing Joke) supply the voices of the antagonist & protagonist's closest allies - Catwoman and Harley Quinn, respectively - while Fred Tatasciore (Family Guy) provides the gruff-yet-sophisticated tones of Gorilla Grodd, a villain who must team with Batman to achieve his own personal agenda. Other voice actors include Bat-family members Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10: Omniverse) as Robin, Adam Croasdell (Reign) as Nightwing and Alfred, and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as Red Robin, and the Rogue's gallery also features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Penguin and Eric Bauza (The Adventures of Puss in Boots) as Two-Face. Doing double duty is Tatasciore as Deathstroke, Strong as Poison Ivy, and Friedle as Red Hood.

DEN OF THIEVES Gets Sequel With Gerard Butler, 50 Cent, Filmmakers Reuniting

Z7OSh3L.jpg

They are thick as thieves and coming together for yet another heist: Gerard Butler, Tucker Tooley, Mark Canton, Alan Siegel, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and director Christian Gudegast with O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (who is in negotiations) have pacted to return for a sequel to the heist thriller Den of Thieves. The project, which will be distributed by STX worldwide and financed by Diamond Film Productions, is being written by Gudegast from an original idea.

Den of Thieves 2, which will also be directed again by Gudegast, will find Big Nick (Butler) on the hunt in the streets of Europe closing in on Donnie (Jackson Jr.) who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange.

Canton and Tooley will produce the sequel with Butler and Siegel’s production company G-BASE. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will produce through his production company G-Unit Film & Television, Inc.

The original Den of Thieves over-performed at the box office when it was released last month. The film, which took Tooley and Canton about 15 years to bring to the screen, has yet to finish out its international run (it has about 35 markets yet to go). Worldwide, the film has grossed $57M so far.

The original cost around $30M before P&A with an $25M+ P&A backstopped by Diamond Films which also provided gap financing. Roughly 60% of the budget was covered by pre-sales and a tax incentive brought it to roughly 70%.

There is plenty of audience growth which was made evident by the release of the first film and the exit polling which showed equal interest from all male audience quads.
