The Hollywood mogul has enlisted a team of attorneys to fight planned articles that are said to be about his personal behavior.

Is The New York Times about to expose damaging information on Harvey Weinstein?

The Weinstein Co. film and television mogul has enlisted an army of attorneys and crisis managers in recent weeks and has unleashed them on the Times over a planned story on his personal behavior, multiple sources familiar with the behind-the-scenes battle tell The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s unclear what the Times is planning to report, but sources say the newspaper has been calling dozens of current and former employees and associates of Weinstein, going back as far as the executive’s days running Miramax more than two decades ago. The reporting team is also said to have procured internal human resources documents during the investigation.

So what's the rumors with this guy? He's lawyering up hard so seemed to be freaked out about the potential stories. If he was just a sonuvabitch to work with/for I don't think he'd care or it would hurt his reputation one iota. Is this a huge casting couch expose brewing?

Tom Cruise has been pictured back on the set of Mission: Impossible 6 for the first time since he broke his ankle during a tricky stunt gone wrong.

The actor, 55, was spotted getting to work on the movie in Brentwood, Essex, once again on Tuesday, after the incident delayed filming of the action flick by over seven weeks in order for the star to make a full recovery from his injuries.

He did not go easy on his first day back and was seen flying a helicopter and driving a large truck around the set, while surrounded by members of the crew.

Watch Neill Blomkamp's New Short Film ADAM: THE MIRROR

Fresh off of yesterday's announcement that District 9 and Chappie filmmaker Neill Blomkamp was directing two new animated short films in the ADAM franchise, the first short film has been released online for all to see. ADAM: The Mirror is a follow-up to the original ADAM, which was released in 2016 as a short film to demonstrate technical innovations on the game engine Unity. Blomkamp is now using Unity 2017 to create two new animated short films, ADAM: The Mirror and ADAM: The Prophet, and the first one is now available to watch in its entirety.

The Mirror was made in real-time using Unity 2017, and it follows our amnesiac hero as he discovers a clue about who he is. Blomkamp produced the short via his OATS Studios, through which he produced, directed, and released a series of live-action short films earlier this year. The goal of OATS Studios was to test out concepts for potential feature films and see which stories audiences responded to.

Full Plot Synopsis for PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING Revealed

rxk31k8.png

Synopsis: "The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.

John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.

Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.

Pacific Rim Uprising is directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Netflix’s Daredevil, STARZ’s Spartacus) and also stars Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day."

The Jaegers are coming — and they’ll make a fine addition to your toy shelf. While we’ve seen brief glimpses of the new fleet via the Pacific Rim 2 teaser trailer and on the viral GoJaeger.com site, Yahoo Entertainment has an exclusive first look at the painstakingly detailed action-figure versions of the human-augmented monster-mauling mechs featured in the anticipated sequel.

Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer that will presumably show the robotic warriors trying to save the planet from interdimensional monsters known as Kaiju.

Let’s get up close and personal with them, beginning with Gipsy Avenger. According to the GoJaeger site, she is “the flagship leader of the Mark VI fleet. More than just a Jaeger she is a symbol of hope to millions.”

Although he’s a previous-generation model, Bracer Phoenix “can still run with the VIs,” per GoJaeger. As for weaponry, he “shoots from the chest, with a centrifugal vortex cannon that is as spectacular as it is deadly.”

With a name like Jake Pentecost, it’s fitting that John Boyega’s character in Pacific Rim Uprising has a backstory that’s practically biblical.

He is the estranged son of Stacker Pentecost, Idris Elba’s character from the 2013 original, and although his father is no longer around, Jake has come home to take up the old man’s cause – kicking monster ass with giant robots.

These machines, known as Jaegers, successfully beat back an invasion of behemoth Kaiju fiends in the first movie, but a decade later the world is still a bruised and battered place. And the creatures are making a comeback.

“Jake is the prodigal son,” Boyega tells EW. “He is a young guy who was on the cusp of greatness in his early days when he was training to be a Jaeger pilot, but he always had a troubled relationship with Stacker. I’m the son he didn’t really talk about in the first film … the product of Stacker’s first love.”

Father and son fell out, he says, “because of Stacker’s attention and hope and faith in Mako rather than him.” Mako is the Jaeger meister who helped save the world last time, played by Rinko Kikuchi, who returns for the sequel – unlike previous costar Charlie Hunnam.

000266649hr1.jpg

This time, Mako is Jake’s protector, despite their awkward history. “He felt he never lived up to his father’s expectations and so he decided to leave the Jaeger program and start stealing for a living,” Boyega says.

Jake thrives as a black market retailer. The monster attacks from the sea have driven the wealthy inland. Middle America is now prime real estate, while the poor populate the coasts, where they could be the first to face an assault.

“When we meet him, he is living in an abandoned mansion in Santa Monica, which is half a mansion anyway because there’s a big Kaiju claw-swipe that has crushed part of it,” Boyega says. “He sells and buys stolen goods, and some of that includes Jaeger parts.”

The masses of poor huddled on the coasts have decided to start building their own giant machines. If there’s going to be a fight, they’re going to make sure they’re ready for it. That brings him into contact with newcomer Cailee Spaeny’s amateur Jaeger pilot, Amara, who is building one of her own battle-bots.

When the two of them break one too many laws and Mako can’t protect them anymore, they’re given a choice. Actually, not much of a choice. “The only thing he can do to compensate for his crimes is join the Jaeger program and teach the kids what he learned,” Boyega says.

That reunites him with his old friend Lambert (played by Scott Eastwood), who will mind-meld with him to co-pilot on the state-of-the-art new Jaeger known as Gipsy Avenger. You can see them both below, bracing for battle.

000266650hr1.jpg

“They were brothers,” Boyega says, but that bond broke when Jake ran away. “Being in each other’s heads in The Drift, they know each other’s thoughts, so they have great moments of hashing out what happened in the past.”

While they’re sorting out their grudge, it’s also going to be a monster mash.

“The Kaiju have found a new way,” Boyega says. “They are way more intelligent than we thought they were. The monsters you saw in the first movie were the test run, to see how the planet would hold up. The breach we thought was closed is not their only way into our world. Their plans are more specific. Jake leads the team in trying to build up a new defense against that.”

That means new mechs:

Gipsy Avenger (center, foreground): “She’s an upgrade model form Gipsy Danger in the first movie,” Boyega says.

“She is still a two-man Jaeger and has new weapons and technology. The new Gipsy has LCD screens and holographic imagery of what is going outside. Her gravity sling has improved,” he adds. “Pilots are no longer locked into robot by feet. It has a scanning system that makes the drift easier to handle. Gipsy Avenger is strongest and hardest to operate.”

Saber Athena (far left, in orange): “She’s the fastest Jaeger, and she is agile and assigned two skillful pilots who know how to do martial arts,” Boyega says. “She has two swords she can join together to slice stuff down. She’s flexible and very fast.”

Guardian Bravo (far right) in red: “She has big electric whips, but is very stocky and strong,” Boyega says.

Bracer Phoenix (background, center): “She is a mystery rogue Jaeger, but is really strong and advanced,” Boyega says. “She has guns on the chest. That Jaeger is, in fact, a three-man rig — one is in the cockpit shooting missiles and bullets from the chest.”

Sony Developing Another MEN IN BLACK Spinoff with a May 17, 2019 Release Date

CpMyFWM.png

The Men in Black are back. Sony Pictures has fast tracked a spinoff of its billion-dollar alien franchise. The studio today will stake out a May 17, 2019, release date for an untitled film that has a script by Matt Holloway & Art Marcum, the writers of Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones aren’t expected to reprise, but the film acknowledges and builds on the world they inhabited. Holloway & Marcum have scripted a contemporary sci-fi pic about the black-clad secret force that protects earth from the alien scum of the universe, focusing on new characters chasing villains that put the picture on more of a global scale than the two previous films. The ambition is akin to the way that Jurassic World rebooted and expanded that franchise.

The MiB spinoff film is being produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. They are actively involved in meeting with top directors right now and expect to land one quickly.

The project is a surprise, because it was expected that the next Men in Black movie would be a mashup with another Sony Pictures hit franchise, 21 Jump Street, with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill’s characters donning the black suits. That idea remains in development, but the spinoff is moving quickly and will come first. Sony, which separately is rebooting its Charlie’s Angels reboot with Elizabeth Banks directing and Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o in talks.

Woody's such a fucking boss.

All he has to do is say, "Hey, come be in my movie" and the stars will come. Just movie after movie after movie he reels in big names, despite the fact that with his films' budgets there's no way he's paying them much--if anything--above scale. They just want to work with Woody.

Universal's BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Postponed to Work on the Script

Universal Pictures is pressing pause on Bride of Frankenstein, the Bill Condon-directed remake of the 1935 horror classic. Pre-production had gotten underway in London for a February 1 production start, but the crew has just been told to go home for the time being.

Javier Bardem has been in talks to play Frankenstein’s Monster, and Angelina Jolie has been in talks to play his reanimated, reluctant mate in the second film in Universal’s Dark Universe initiative to bring back its classic movie monsters.

Deadline has heard the film is going back to the lab to do some more work on the script and that is why they stopped the clock. It had been dated February 14, 2019.

The studio confirmed to Deadline that its execs and Condon have indeed pushed pause. The site is told the actors aren’t walking away. In fact, they are not committing until this all gets rectified.

“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein,” Universal said in a statement to Deadline. “None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”

Even though the studio carved out that release date long ago, it sounds like they are still trying to establish exactly what this film should be, with Bardem and Jolie waiting for more rewrites by David Koepp before committing. A little caution here seems well placed after the the film that launched Universal’s monster program, The Mummy, turned into a confusing pastiche of action scenes without a sense of authorship of what exactly it wanted to be. An action adventure in the vein of the Stephen Sommers Brendan Fraser-Rachel Weisz films, or a truly frightening film like the 1932 original was for its time? Even though it grossed $407 million worldwide, the scariest thing about The Mummy was its reviews. There are numerous filmmaker-driven monster movies that will follow, but the welfare of the franchise is contingent on getting the next one right.

True but Terrence Malick has him beat.

A-listers want to work with the Malick, waste a year of their lives to work for peanuts and they probably won't even appear in the final cut of the movie at all. <Eek2.0>

Gore Verbinski to Direct GAMBIT Starring Channing Tatum at Fox

79SJrnC.jpg

Deadline reports that Gore Verbinski is making a deal to direct Gambit at Fox. The X-Men spinoff has been a high priority at the studio, since Channing Tatum stepped up to star in the film as Remy LeBeau, the suave mutant from New Orleans who can turn objects into projectiles. That includes a deck of cards.

Free Association’s Tatum and Reid Carolin are producing the film with X-Men overseers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Josh Zetumer wrote the script. The film formerly had Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt attached, and the character was first seen in a cameo played by in a small dose by Taylor Kitsch in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Verbinski most recently directed A Cure For Wellness, but he’s adept at big scale films, having originated the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's FAST & FURIOUS Spinoff Gets 2019 Release

iS1TMok.jpg

Just because Universal pushed its next Fast and the Furious chapter back a year doesn’t mean the studio is sitting idle.

In fact, it’s just switching gears to focus on the much-buzzed-about Fast & Furious spinoff that is intended to be a starring vehicle for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

With Fast 9 moved back to 2020, Universal is now officially putting the project on the calendar, dating it for a July 26, 2019, opening.

Chris Morgan, who has shepherded the script chores since 2006's Toyko Drift, is now writing the spinoff that will focus on Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent played by Johnson, and Deckard Shaw, an assassin character who was one of the primary bad guys in the franchise before being redeemed and joining the motley crew of antiheroes that make up the roll call.

Meanwhile, sources say that one reason for Fast 9's push was to accommodate potential director scheduling. Sources also say Justin Lin may be lining up to return to the franchise and is the top man to helm the core entry of Fast 9.

Johnson first appeared in 2011’s Fast Five and has become a major factor in the franchise's rejuvenation and growth. He has starred in four of the eight films. Statham cameoed in Fast & Furious 6 and co-starred in the last two films. It was during the making of the last installment, The Fate of the Furious, that Universal began mulling a spinoff with the two actors after seeing their chemistry spark in the dailies.
