Colin Farrell to Star in Tim Burton's Live-Action DUMBO for Disney

Colin-Farrell-Dumbo-3-Dragonlord.jpg

Colin Farrell is in talks to star in Disney's live-action take on Dumbo, which will be directed by Tim Burton.

Ehren Kruger penned the script for the project, which is based on Disney's classic animated 1941 movie about a baby circus elephant who is made fun of for his large ears and is separated from his mother. Eva Green and Danny DeVito are already signed on to the project.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say that one thing the new version does is expand and deepen the circus aspect of the story.

Farrell was most recently seen in Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and A24’s indie film The Lobster. He has previously worked with Disney, starring in Saving Mr. Banks. The actor's upcoming projects include Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled and Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Alicia-Vikander-as-Lara-Croft-Tomb-Raider-02.jpg

In these first-look images, see Alicia Vikander take on the role made famous first in the video-game series and then in the two films starring Angelina Jolie. But this version of Lara comes with a new backstory, and a new motivation for her adventures:

Seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.

Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name Tomb Raider.

Sony Reportedly Developing VENOM as R-Rated Start to Their Own Marvel Universe

Venom-Marvel-032717-Dragonlord.jpeg

Earlier in March, Sony Pictures gave Venom a release date, and now rumors suggest that the film will be the start of something potentially much bigger.

According to a new rumor coming out from Collider, Venom is being developed with the intent of the film earning an R-rating and for the film to launch a new shared Marvel Universe separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony’s Marvel Universe will not be connected to the MCU in any way and the planned Venom and Black Cat and Silver Sable films are all part of Sony’s own shared universe, not spin-offs of any existing films. Marvel’s Kevin Feige has nothing to do with these films; it’s Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, who’s calling the shots.

Collider's report makes it clear that the announcement of Venom‘s release date indicates that the execs are happy with the script and the new direction they’re embarking on, but with no director set for either film, obviously things can still change since all of the announced films are still in development.

According to industry casting website MyEntertainmentWorld, Venom will enter production in the fall of 2017, about one year before its release.

Another interesting tidbit from the listing is that the Venom movie is listed as an "Action/Horror/Sci-Fi" movie, an interesting mix for a superhero movie.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON's O'Shea Jackson Jr. Joins GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS

OShea-Jackson-Godzilla-King-of-Monsters-Dragonlord.jpg

Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr. is in negotiations to join Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

The movie already stars Stranger Things stand-out Millie Bobby Brown, along with Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga. Krampus helmer Michael Dougherty is directing the project from a script he penned with Zach Shields.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, and Elizabeth Olsen starred in the 2014 Godzilla reboot, directed by Gareth Edwards. Sources tell Variety that Watanabe is the only original cast member likely to return for the second installment.

Alex Garcia will oversee the tentpole for Legendary. Godzilla: King of Monsters hits theaters on March 22, 2019, with the monster mash-up Godzilla vs. Kong slated to bow the following year on May 29, 2020.

Legendary and Warner Bros. announced in late 2015 that all future King Kong and Godzilla movies would be developed by Legendary and distributed by Warner Bros., starting with Kong: Skull Island. Legendary currently holds a distribution deal with Universal, but in order to re-team Godzilla and King Kong, the studio returned the rights to WB.

Jackson garnered rave reviews after portraying his father, Ice Cube, in the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. He recently received another round of strong notices (including being named one of Sundance Film Festival 2017’s breakout stars by Variety) for his role as Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen’s drug dealer in Ingrid Goes West. Jackson is currently filming the STX action pic Den of Thieves.

New Images and Details on Michael Keaton's Vulture in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Meet the Vulture, the Marvel supervillain with the most fitting nom de crime. He might have a cool name but Michael Keaton’s bad guy in Spider-Man: Homecoming (in theaters July 7) differs from the likes of Avengers villains Loki and Thanos in one important sense: He’s an everyman.

“My whole approach for this movie is that we’ve seen the penthouse level of the (Marvel) universe,” says director Jon Watts (Cop Car). “We’ve seen what it’s like to be a billionaire inventor and to be a Norse god. We’ve seen the very top of this world. But we’ve never seen what it’s like to be just a regular joe.”

A feathered fiend from 1963 who was the second villain Spidey faced in comic books, the Vulture is getting a modern makeover with a wicked high-tech wing suit and even a relatable day job.

Fourteen previous Marvel films have seen a number of huge superhero battles leave a ton of destruction in their wake, and Adrian Toomes (Keaton) is a blue-collar sort who runs a New York salvaging company that cleans up after these messes. However, he becomes irked when after one altercation, a new government organization, founded by A-list businessman Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), steps in to take over.

Toomes “has a bone to pick” with Iron Man’s high-profile alter ego, says co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll, and "sort of becomes the dark Tony Stark": He and his crew — including the Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine) and the Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) — use scavenged alien artifacts and stolen advanced tech to put together amazing weaponry to sell to other criminals. "He thinks once he has this money and power, he'll have more control of his life," Carroll adds. However, it doesn’t take too long before they get on the radar of their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

“I like the idea that in these huge movies, you pick out one extra and you’re like, ‘What does he think of all this?’ ” Watts says. “Sometimes these movies are so casual about just destroying whole cities and incredible things happen and everyone’s like, ‘Eh, whatever.’ If that really happened, it would be amazing and change everything.”

Plus, with his new baddie Watts gets to use "this neat junk from all the other movies," he says. "It’s a really great starting point for the villains to have the Vulture picking over the stuff and finding the valuable exotic elements and having the Tinkerer assemble into something that could be used.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a place “where you can be a villain and a real person, too,” Watts says. “Being a supervillain isn’t necessarily your full-time job.”

First Poster, Plot Synopsis and Concept Art for GODZILLA: MONSTER PLANET

Godzilla-Monster-Planet-1.jpg

The full title of the first film is Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei (Godzilla: Monster Planet). The official website describes the story:

The last summer of the 20th Century. That day, the human beings learn that they are not the only ruler of the planet Earth.

The appearance of the giant living creatures “Kaiju's” and the ultimate existence that destroys all monsters: Godzilla. Through the battle against kaiju's that lasted for half a century, human beings has experienced continuous defeat, and finally plans to escape from the Earth. And in 2048, only those who were selected by the A.I. managed under the central government boarded the inter-sidereal emigrant spaceship “Aratrum” to head for “Tau Cetus e”, the planet beyond the distance of 11.9 light-year. However, the environmental condition differences between that of the Earth and Tau e, which they finally arrived after 20 years were far beyond the predicted numbers, and was not an environment considered to be habitable by human beings.

The young man on the emigrant ship: Haruo, who saw his parents killed by Godzilla in front of his eyes when he was 4 years old, had only one thing in his mind for 20 years: to return to the Earth and defeat Godzilla. Shut out from the possibility of emigration, as the living environment in the ship deteriorates, the group of “Earth Returnists” led by Haruo became the majority, and determines to head back to Earth through a dangerous long-distance hyperspace navigation. However, the Earth they have returned has already passed the time of 20,000 years, and has become an unknown world with the ecosystem reigned by Godzilla.

At the end, will human beings win back the Earth? And what will Haruo see beyond his fate?

Take That's Gary Barlow Confirmed to Cameo in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Gary-Barlow-Star-Wars-The-Last-Jedi-Dragonlord.jpg

Someone is probably going to get a call from the Lucasfilm Police for spilling the beans! British singer and songwriter Gary Barlow slipped and admitted his involvement in Star Wars: The Last Jedi in an interview with ITV’s Lorraine.

“I’m not a Stormtrooper, but I’m in it,” he said on the talk show.

“Now that I’ve said it, I’ll probably be [cut] out,” Barlow added. “I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information [is out there]. So me saying that, I’ve probably just done myself out of a role.”

Barlow’s confirmation comes after rumors of Tom Hardy playing a Stormtrooper, as well as involvement of the Princes Harry and William. But as of yet that’s all just speculation based off of some offhand comments and social media posts.

Barlow is a member of Take That, of which Robbie Williams used to be a member. The group was successful in the 90s and then went on hiatus. They reformed in the 2000s with a successful album and tour and continue to make music, with Williams returning at times to collaborate with the group. Take That just released a new album this month called Wonderland.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Will Feature New Gorilla-Like AT-AT Walkers

Star-Wars-AT-AT-Walkers-Dragonlord.jpg

The Imperial AT-AT Walker will once again be back to terrorize the resistance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Only these AT-AT Walkers will be bigger, better, stronger...And look like a gorilla?

The appearance of new AT-AT Walkers in The Last Jedi is said to coincide with its Empire Strikes Back tone. Making Star Wars brings this report. Always a reliable source of information, the managing editor of the site actually caught a glimpse of these new Walkers. And by all accounts, they sound pretty weird and wild.

The new AT-AT Walkers are described as 'huge and chunky'. They will blend the aesthetic of the AT-ACT design with the classic Walkers. The First Order has learned from the Empire's many mistakes. They have reinforced these new vehicles with more armor. They are referred to as 'Super Walkers'. And they are bigger and stronger than anything the Imperial forces ever unleashed.

The legs have gotten a massive upgrade, as this was a weak spot for the original Walkers and this new design won't allow for them to topple over with a simple wire trick, according to the site.

"From the front it resembles a gorilla with its front arms firmly planted on the ground [...] it has a high back that slants down towards the rear. The front legs also have a tiny cross-bar type deal that allows its front legs to kind of scoop go forward and then scoop back. In the very brief moment I saw a demonstration of the walking motion, it had a very different rhythm and pace from the classic AT-AT. If I'm not being clear, this thing is a mechanized AT-AT gorilla."

The on-staff artist at the site did a mock-up of what was witnessed by their editor. And the image shows a very menacing face on the front of the AT-AT Walker (though this image has since been removed). It is speculated that these AT-AT Walkers will resemble a gorilla in the way the originals sort of looked like a camel. The outline is there, but the actual details are vastly different.

The initial report goes onto say that these new Walkers will be shown in a long battle sequence.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Will Have Gorilla-Shaped AT-AT Walkers?

So now Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E are all in the MonsterVerse? Sweet.
They're gonna make mecha-Eazy E and reunite the original NWA line up and defeat Godzila with the strength of street knowledge.
