EDGE OF TOMORROW Sequel Title Revealed; Emily Blunt to Return

Live-Die-Repeat-and-Repeat-050717-Dragonlord.jpg

Collider recently spoke with Doug Liman about Edge of Tomorrow 2 and the filmmaker remains enthused about the sequel, revealing not only that Emily Blunt is onboard but also the follow-up’s curious title.

“We have an amazing story! It’s incredible!" says Liman. "Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”

Live Die Repeat and Repeat should sound familiar to those who followed the title drama of the first film. It was originally called All You Need Is Kill, the same title as its source material. Warner Bros. switched it to Edge of Tomorrow for the film’s release, but as the home video rollout began, the title Live. Die. Repeat. was emblazoned on every Blu-ray and VOD cover. So it sounds like Liman and Co. preferred the home video title to the theatrical one.

As for that story that Liman’s so excited about, he previously revealed that the film is actually a sequel that’s a prequel, noting his intention to upend how people look at sequels in the first place:

“I had these intellectual ideas on how you should make a sequel that are unlike how anybody else makes a sequel, and this script and this idea fit perfectly into that idea. So it’s gonna revolutionize how people make sequels.”

All involved are busy people—Cruise is currently shooting Mission: Impossible 6 with Christopher McQuarrie directing, and Blunt is filming Disney’s sequel Mary Poppins Returns. Liman, meanwhile, is attached to helm the DC Comics adaptation Justice League Dark for Warner Bros., so now it sounds like it’s going to be about aligning all of the schedules of those involved.

R-Rated HELLBOY Reboot with Director Neil Marshall and David Harbour to Star

David-Harbour-Hellboy-050817b-Dragonlord.jpg

Hellboy, the demonic comic book hero-turned- Guillermo del Toro film franchise, is poised to return to the big-screen, this time without the filmmaker at the helm.

Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for a new installment that would reboot and relaunch the property. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is also producing.

Neil Marshall, the horror director who broke out with The Descent and won raves for his work on Game of Thrones, is in talks to direct the project, which has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and has a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Del Toro is not involved nor is Ron Perlman, the actor who inhabited the red-skinned cigar-chomping devil in the two previous installments.

Rather, David Harbour, the Stranger Things star, is in talks play Hellboy.

Creator Mike Mignola announced on Facebook that the Hellboy reboot will be R-rated.

If a deal makes, Millennium would become the third company to make a Hellboy movie in as many releases.

Hellboy was created in 1993 by Mignola and became an indie comic hit as it told of a demon raised by a professor, working to fight supernatural evildoers for an organization called Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

Last year del Toro, Dark Horse Entertainment, Levin and Gordon, the latter who controls the rights, explored their options. However, the budget was a stumbling block, with del Toro wanting a bigger canvas for his vision. In the end, the producers decided a reboot and relaunch was the more feasible route.

Comments: Since Guillermo del Toro tried numerous times and unsuccessfully to make Hellboy 3, even declaring that the sequel is 100% not going to happen early this year, I'm fine with a reboot. Better to have a new series of Hellboy movies than nothing at all.

As for David Harbour casting, I think he's a terrific choice as Hellboy. He checks out in all the physical criteria. He's 6'3", a bit bulky and 42 years old (great age to build a franchise on for many, many years). He also has the gruffness, the voice and the attitude for the role.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's Cliff Curtis to Star in AVATAR Sequels

Cliff-Curtis-Avatar-050817a-Dragonlord.jpg

Deadline has confirmed that Fear the Walking Dead‘s Cliff Curtis is boarding all four of James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar sequels in a lead role.

The New Zealand-born actor will play Tonowari, who is the leader of the Metkayina, the reef people clan (Cameron has said in interviews that the Avatar world in future installments will take place underwater).

Curtis joins returning cast members Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver. Production begins at Wellington’s Stone Street Studios next year.

The first of the four sequels is due for release on Dec. 18, 2020, with other sequels to follow during the Christmas season of 2021, 2024 and 2025. Avatar remains the highest grossing film at the worldwide box office with $2.79 billion.

Sources tell us that the Avatar production will work around Curtis’s production on Fear of the Walking Dead. On the AMC show, which returns June 4, the actor plays Travis Manawa.

One of Curtis’ first roles on the big screen was in Jane Champion’s Oscar-winning movie The Piano. Other features include Once Were Warriors, Training Day, Live Free or Die Hard, and The Last Airbender, and TV series Trauma, Gang Related and Missing.

Sunspot, Feral and Shatterstar Reportedly to Appear in DEADPOOL 2 Post-Credits Scene

Sunspot-Feral-Shatterstar-X-Force-Dragonlord.jpg

Already in place for the highly anticipated Deadpool 2 are Deadpool, Colossus, Domino, and Cable. Now, the recently delayed production is looking to add a trio of known mutant characters from Marvel Comics to that list, if only in brief form.

Sources tell ComicBook.com that Sunspot, Feral and Shatterstar will appear in a post-credits tag scene attached to Deadpool 2 which will set up the upcoming X-Force movie.

Sunspot (Roberto Da Costa) is a mutant with the ability to harness the sun's power, which grants him superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Born in Brazil, Roberto comes from a wealthy family and has been described as brash and quick tempered. Initially a member of the New Mutants, Roberto has since developed a long history with various X-Men related teams, as well as some villains. Currently, he is a member of the Avengers.

Feral by power, nature, name. The ailuranthropic (Were-Cat) or cat/human hybrid mutant Feral was a ticking timebomb of rage, always ready to fight. Maria Callasantos' life was dredged in mystery, deceit, and death. She has a sister, Thornn whom was once a member of the X-Corporation and has a similar mutation.

A refugee from Mojoworld, Shatterstar came to earth and joined forces with Cable's New Mutants which soon transformed into X-Force. He is a militant individual, with a passion for war. He is a member of X-Factor Investigations and is in a relationship with fellow teammate Rictor.

It's Official: Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy to Star in NEW MUTANTS

Anya-Taylor-Joy-Maisie-Williams-New-Mutants-Dragonlord.jpg

Fox’s long-awaited X-Men spinoff New Mutants is finally getting casting up.

Anya Taylor-Joy, the star of The Witch andSplit, and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams have signed on to star in the project, the ensemble young adult super hero movie being directed by Josh Boone.

The movie is headed towards an early July start and is armed with a script by Boone and his writing partner, Knate Gwaltney. Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt are producing.

New Mutants, created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, was the first X-Men comic spinoff, launched in the early 1980s as the franchise began two decades of dominating the comic book industry.

The movie will focus on the angst-driven adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, and Russian teen Magik. Also in the mix will be an alien named Warlock.

Taylor-Joy will play Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel. She is also the sister of Colossus, an X-Man who appeared in Deadpool.

Williams will play Wolfsbane, a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.

Boone has been eyeing the actresses since last year but was only able pull the trigger on them once the movie was greenlit earlier this year. The movie has a April 13, 2018 release date.

The studio is making serious efforts to find ethnically appropriate actors, conducting wide searches for a Native American to play Moonstar and a South American for Sunspot.

Taylor-Joy broke out with the 2015 award-winning period horror movie The Witch and starred with James McAvoy in M. Night Shyamalan’s surprise hit, Split. Williams plays Arya Stark in Thrones, which launches its seventh season in July.

Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan Teaming Up for Action Pic EX-BAGHDAD

Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone are teaming up for an action movie. Scott Waugh, who helmed Need for Speed, is in negotiations to direct Ex-Baghdad.

The story centers on two ex-special forces soldiers who must escort a group of civilians along Baghdad’s "Highway of Death" to the safety of the Green Zone.

The project is budgeted at $80 million, which sources say is one of the highest for a Chinese production.

The project is aimed at international audiences: Chan is one of the most recognizable and bankable names on the worldwide scene while Stallone is another who has more value outside the US than domestically.

For the first time, Jackie will be more understandable than his co-star.

That's really cool... They both have a similar quirky sense of humor that I think will play together well.

Plus 2 major action heroz meeting for the first time in the movies will be great

This is going to be utterly fucking terrible. I have a feeling it's going to make me appreciate the Expendables.

I was afraid my hero Jackie was slowing down a few yrs back when he announced retirement from action films.
What a wonderful world.

I am surprisingly optimistic about the Hellboy reboot after reading all of that. Bring that shit on...
