Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro in Talks for KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

The book was snatched last year after a bidding war for $5 million by Imperative Entertainment and now the Eric Roth feature film adaptation of David Grann’s book Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders And The Birth Of The FBI may end up with another few good men.

Deadline hears that Imperative is working right now to put together some A-listers for the big screen; first choices happen to be Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, and the three are seriously considering it.

Scorsese and De Niro have been huddling on The Irishman at Netflix, but there’s no completed deal yet.

Grann’s Killers Of The Flower Moon, which bows this week from Doubleday, tells the true crime story about multiple murders of members of the Osage Indian tribe in Oklahoma that occurred after they found oil on their lands. It is about conspiracy, greed and murder in the Indian nation — so bad the federal government had to step in. It also chronicles the rise of J. Edgar Hoover, who led the investigation into the murders and ended up making a name for himself.

Scorsese and DiCaprio have worked together multiple times before with Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Shutter Island, The Departed and The Wolf Of Wall Street. In addition, they are both developing The Devil In The White City, also based on a critically acclaimed book. De Niro and Scorsese, of course, have teamed on such films as Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The King Of Comedy and The Godfather Part II.

Ang Lee in Talks to Direct High-Concept Action Thriller GEMINI MAN

Ang-Lee-Director-042117-Dragonlord.png

An action movie project that has remained one of Hollywood’s most fabled unproduced films for over 20 years is getting another shot at the big screen.

Ang Lee, the celebrated filmmaker behind Life of Pi and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is in negotiations to direct Gemini Man, the high-concept action thriller for Skydance, THR has learned.

The story centers on an aging assassin who tried to get out of the business but finds himself in the ultimate battle: fighting his own clone who is 25 years younger than him and at the peak of his abilities.

The project was first set up at Disney in 1997 as a pitch by Darren Lemke, with Don Murphy producing and Tony Scott directing. While always popular with execs, in and outside the studio, Gemini was considered unfilmable for many years. The producer and execs wanted to use computer effects to have the same actor play both parts but the technology to have one actor realistically carry that off for an entire movie did not exist.

That still didn’t stop development on it as writer after writer — including Brian Helgeland, Andrew Niccol and David Benioff — worked on drafts of the script. (Benioff was paid a reported $2 million for his work, showing exactly just how much the concept was loved.)

Curtis Hanson was attached to direct at one point while Mel Gibson circled to star at another.

However, technological evolution took small steps toward Gemini’s direction. David Fincher aged and de-aged Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Tron: Legacy did the same with Jeff Bridges.

Marvel in recent years has made it much more common with Captain America: Civil War, which featured a young Robert Downey Jr., Ant-Man's young Michael Douglas, and again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with Kurt Russell. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story did it with Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing.

But all these examples have been for short scenes, not for the duration of an entire movie, something that would strain budgetary and creative resources as well as believability.

(Looper, directed by Rian Johnson, treaded similar terrain as Gemini, using a time travel conceit rather than cloning, but used makeup to have Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play the same character.)

Skydance, which picked up the dormant project in October 2016 and Jerry Bruckheimer is now producing, wiht Muphy exec producing. The company is ready to go all in, believing the time is right and the technology here. And it believes that Lee, who has pushed the envelope with Pi and experimented with cameras with the more recent drama Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, is the right man to pull this off.

Taylor Kitsch? How much money are they expecting to lose on this?
The actor that is playing mitch rapp looks nothing like how he is described in the books.

Will Smith in Talks to Play the Genie in Guy Ritchie's Live-Action ALADDIN Movie

Will-Smith-Genie-Aladdin-041917-Dragonlord.jpg

Will Smith is in talks to take on the genie role made famous by the late Robin Williams in Disney’s live-action Aladdin from Guy Ritchie, Deadline reports.

The adaptation of the animated feature follows the studio’s strategy of bringing its classic animated titles to life and so far it has been a goldmine, most recently with Beauty and the Beast which has already grossed over $1B worldwide.

Smith had previously been in talks with Tim Burton about Dumbo but that did not materialize and sources say these talks are also early.

Like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin will be a live-action musical and that would fit well with Smith who is not only an actor but was known to the world for his musical prowess as The Fresh Prince rapper before he hit the little or big screen. The production is gearing up for a long, six-month shoot, so that is one consideration. It is supposed to start in the U.K. in July and wrap early next year.

John August (Big Fish) scripted the story based on the 1992 animated classic and follows the story of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine after the commoner Aladdin finds a magic lamp and, upon shining it up, a genie is released from being trapped inside. The bigger-than-life genie then grants Aladdin three wishes.

First Look at Hot Rod in TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT

transformers.jpg

Alongside Mark Wahlberg’s salt-of-the-earth mechanic, Anthony Hopkins is joining the cast as Sir Edmund Burton, an astronomer who — with the help of Hot Rod — has tracked these long-forgotten connections to another scholar, Oxford professor of English literature Viviane Wembly (Laura Haddock, who played Star-Lord’s mother in Guardians of the Galaxy).

In the image here, Wembly comes face to face with the longtime friend she didn’t even know she had — the Autobot covert agent Hot Rod. She’s freaked out — and not planning to go quietly.

Hot Rod has secretly been serving as her protector in the guise of her father’s 1963 Citroën DS.

“It’s a rickety old thing, but she can’t part with it because she adores it,” Haddock says of the vintage vehicle. “This car has actually been put there to watch her and feedback information to Anthony Hopkins’s character about what she’s up to and her life. So yeah, she gets kind of taken [by surprise] in a really funny, dramatic way by this Hot Rod.”

The revelation also reshapes how she viewed her dad. “She’s not had a very good relationship with her father, but this is one thing that her father has done that makes her realize that maybe he cared than she thought.”

So far, the new robot doesn’t have an actor attached. “It’s still in the works,” di Bonaventura says.

Don’t expect them to go with, say, Nelson; The Last Night is looking for an overseas star to voice Hot Rod.

“We’re trying to make our cast as international as we can,” di Bonaventura says. “We think it’s fun for the characters, it’s fun for the series, it’s fun for the fans in the different countries. So a lot of the robots are not being voiced or we’re just in the process of casting them now.”

New Images of Channing Tatum, Riley Keough, Adam Driver, and Daniel Craig in LOGAN LUCKY

logan-lucky1.jpg

Logan Lucky marks the feature directorial return of Steven Soderbergh since 2013's Side Effects. Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Riley Keough star as Jimmy, Clyde, and Mellie Logan, three siblings planning on robbing the Charlotte Motor Speedway just before the biggest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600. They even have an accomplice, Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), who is an expert at blowing vaults opens, but there’s one small problem: He’s in prison.

On the most obvious level, it’s the complete inversion of an Ocean’s movie. It’s an anti-glam version of an Ocean’s movie. Nobody dresses nice. Nobody has nice stuff. They have no money. They have no technology. It’s all rubber band technology, and that’s what I thought was fun about it.

Four AVATAR Sequels Get Official Release Dates, Beginning in December 2020

Avatar-042217-Dragonlord.jpg

James Cameron and 20th Century Fox's four Avatar sequels finally have official release dates.

They are: December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025. So far, Avatar has those dates to itself, although Star Wars saga films are becoming a staple at Christmas every other year.

The Avatar news was announced on the movie's official Facebook page Saturday morning, along with a picture of Cameron and crew.

"Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels," Cameron said in the post.

A year ago, Cameron first revealed there would be four Avatar sequels, instead of the previously planned three, at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of theaters. At the time, his goal was to release Avatar 2 over Christmas 2018, and then a new film in 2020, 2022 and 2023.

It became clear, however, that the schedule wouldn't be met when Fox never officially dated the films.

Cameron said each of the four sequels will be able to stand alone, but will together create a saga.

The original 2009 film earned $2.8 billion worldwide and remains the top-grossing film of all time at the global box office.

Fox Announces Release Dates for X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, DEADPOOL 2 and NEW MUTANTS

X-Men-Dark-Phoenix-042217-Dragonlord.jpg

20th Century Fox has given official release dates to three upcoming X-Men movies. New Mutants will open on April 13, 2018. Deadpool 2 will follow on June 1, 2018. The next core X-Men movie, now confirmed to be X-Men: Dark Phoenix, will open on Nov. 2, 2018.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be an adaptation of "The Dark Phoenix Saga," generally regarded as the greatest X-Men story ever told. X-Men: The Last Stand previously adapted the story, but fans were generally not satisfied with the results. The X-Men movies' time travel shenanigans have provided Fox with a rare second chance to do the story justice.

Sophie Turner will return as Jean Grey, the host for the Phoenix Force and central figure of the saga. Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp are expected to return as Cyclops and Storm, respectively. The older members of the prequel trilogy cast had their contracts expire after X-Men: Apocalypse, so their involvement remains up in the air.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is also expected to begin film in Montreal in May, leading to some speculation that the film will connect directly to New Mutants.

New Mutants is being co-written and directed by Josh Boone. The film is inspired by the very first X-Men spinoff series, The New Mutants, which followed a new class of teenage mutants attending Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The film is expected to begin shooting in early May, with production taking place in Montreal and Boston.

Deadpool 2 is the sequel to 2016's underdog, R-rated hit. Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson, the merc with a mouth. He'll be working with new director David Leitch. While supporting cast members from the first Deadpool movie are expected to return, Deadpool 2 will also give Wade some new playmates. Atlanta breakout Zazie Beetz will play Domino, a mutant mercenary with the gift of good luck thanks her mutant powers. Josh Brolin will play Cable, the time-travelling mutant soldier/mercenary who gets stuck playing the straight man to Deadpool's zaniness.

That Will Dmith is gone. He's got nothing left.
Haven't seen it myself, but he did do a serious movie not too long a go. That football trauma drama, Concussion. Though thinking about it a bit more, I seriously doubt he will turn off his willsmithing just so he could be "serious" in an Aladin movie.

DOPE's Shameik Moore to Voice Miles Morales in SPIDER-MAN Animated Movie

Shameik-Moore-Miles-Morales-Spider-Man-Dragonlord.jpg

Shameik Moore, one of the breakout stars of indie Dope and Netflix's hip-hop drama The Get Down, will voice the Marvel superhero in Sony Pictures Animation's untitled Spider-Man feature project.

The project does not spotlight Peter Parker as the web-swinging wonder but Miles Morales, the popular incarnation introduced in 2011 who is half black, half Latino.

At the same time, Ray Donovan topliner Liev Schreiber is joining the project as the voice of the movie's villain. The character's identity is being kept locked tight.

Phil Lord wrote the project and is producing alongside his Lego Movie and Han Solo movie co-director, Chris Miller.

The Little Prince writer Bob Persichetti is set to co-direct alongside Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians).

Plot details are a secret, but the focus is on Morales as he juggles school life and superheroics in the classic Spider-Man mold.

Morales was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli and was introduced in 2011 as part of the Ultimate Marvel imprint, which told tales set in an alternate story universe.
