Was watching the main card with a group of friends and all of them said MMA is more dangerous than boxing. It was during the Manuwa fight, with all the blood pouring down their faces, and all of them said MMA is way more dangerous. So a few minutes ago I went to a boxing website to catch the latest updates on the boxing fight card on ESPN and I came across these two separate stories:

1. https://www.boxingscene.com/yeison-cohen-passes-away-ko-loss-earlier-this-month--126312

2. https://www.boxingscene.com/whittom-dies-being-10-month-coma-following-ko-loss--126307

Apparently 2 boxers died today as a result of injuries suffered in a boxing match. Boxing seems to have way more fatalities but MMA just has more gore. What do you think, which one's more dangerous?

Boxing is more dangerous for the participants to get killed. Mma is more dangerous to kill a motherfucker messing with you

More likely to get injured in mma. More likely to die or have permanent brain damage in boxing.

The reason boxing has more fatalities is because you can be flattened with a punch and suffer multiple concussions and given a standing 10 count before being allowed to continue whilst in MMA the fight would be stopped that's the reason boxing has the perception of being more dangerous whilst the reality is MMA is a far more dangerous if the same rules applied, this should be pretty obvious.

think of the tools you are using in each and compare...you are limited to punches to boxing; punches and kicks in kickboxing; punches, kicks, elbows, knees, grappling in mma.

and then you have lethwei where you can head-butt.

Well if you take it by body count, it seems like boxing is more dangerous. If you judge 'dangerous' by all the blood and violence then MMA by a mile.

Your avatar is vicious bro. Prime Shogun was an animal.

Boxers are at a much higher risk for serious long term damage such as CTE due to the focus on the head.

Also in MMA, a knockdown typically leads to a fetal position TKO or even a sub whilst boxing has that standing 10 count to make sure a boxer is in it until their brain is mush.

Boxing is worse for the brain due to the 10 count. A boxer can suffer multiple concussions in one fight. A boxer can be totally out of it and "recover" and come to fight again. That's awful for the brain.

MMA is worse for the body. The training is fucking grueling and the years of BJJ fuck up your back, neck, knees etc. Because the gloves are so small fighters also break their hands alot more leaving their hands all fucked up.

Overall i'd say boxing is more damaging. Your body being fucked up isn't good but it's certainly better than fucking having kids and then you can't even remember them growing up.

MMA looks more brutal overall because of the smaller gloves and also because of the blood that happens more often thanks to knees and specially elbows.

its more so the repetition of punches to the head. Mexican boxers go 12 rounds with nearly 1000 punches thrown in a fight. The volume of repeated hard strikes to the head is where the real long term damage is at. David benavidez landed 315 punches in his last fight, mikey garcia landed 169, danny garcia landed over 200, these are just their most recent fights

and the fact boxing demands you to get up after being knocked down, and continue fighting makes it more brutal. Theres less easy ways out in boxing than MMA
