How the teams were chosen:

Why is it only UFC fighters?I chose only UFC fighters to make it easier for myself.

Why Doesn't every team have a person for each weight Class?

If there isn't a person in a weight class for a given country it is because the UFC doesn't have a fighter signed for that weight class from that country as of 3/5/14, and no I won't add them if they add a person in a weight class later in the year because that will be too complicated.

Why aren't there any champions?
I decided not to include champions.

But what if I think another fighter is a better representative for a given country at a given weight class?
You might think "Well I think this Russian is better at LW than this Russian so why did he choose him." I chose fighters based on who was ranked highest for that each country, in each weight class using the Fight Matrix Ranking system. I could be wrong on some and by all means if you find that someones is ranked higher for that weight class on Fight Matrix as of 3/5/14 and you can prove it, please do so and I will correct it. Don't waste your typing trying to convince me to put someoneelse if you can't prove someone else is ranked higher on Fight Matrix as of 3/5/14 when this thread was created.
Also there are some where I didn't include a higher ranked person because they were potentially out indefinitely. For example, I could have chosen GSP for WW for Canada, but we don't know if he will fight this year.

Why Fight Matrix?
Because they rank up to like top 100 I believe, so it made it easier to create this thread and I want to keep this as standardized as possible.

How will we know who wins?
By the end of 2014 who ever is #1, #2, #3 for each weight class on Fight Matrix will also be our Gold, Silver and Bronze for that weight class. I will also keep track of their records through out the year so that you can see them in here and how they are doing. But that will be difficult on me and some fighters have already fought so I will have to do retroactive work. SO PLEASE FEEL FREE IF YOU ALREADY KNOW THEIR RECORDS THIS YEAR TO TELL ME AND I WILL PUT THEM IN THERE WHEN I HAVE TIME.

What if someone changes weight class by the end of the year?
Then they have forfeited their right to fight for the medal in that weight class, and that team has lost that weight class, unless they come back before the year is over.

Why are you doing this?
For Fun

Slow day at work?

Also it's GB not England.

If Uriah Hall doesn't win a medal is he going to try out for bobsled?

Who did JJ piss off so bad that they choose Rashad instead of him? Stay away from twitter, Bones.

How would this be formatted exactly?

So this is the winter Olympics lol. Will they be fighting on ice?

I'm guessing UFC champions are ineligible for representation...

Still, even if that was the case, McMann is mediocre at best, why is she going?

How do you get avatars that move, like gifs?

You say that you didn't want to include champions... But what happens if a fighter that's not a champion right now becomes champ during 2014. Will he be disqualified?

I'm American, that always confuses me. When I looked it up on Wikipedia, it said Great Britian includes England, Scotland and Ireland. So I thought, hmmmm, we have a seperate Ireland team, so I went with England and Ireland seperately. I'll fix it if you can explain for my naive mind.

what if everyone dies during the olympics?

this has the potential to become a legendary thread but it will be wastelanded soon :(

No in fact he will get the Gold Medal if he keeps the championship to the end of the year.

GB is England, Scotland and Wales.

The UK includes Northern Ireland too.

For the Olympics it's GB.
