Miocic vs Fedor (in his prime)

The biggest difference here is stipe has lost before and even in this 'streak' of his he has looked beatable, he was dropped and nearly finished by Overeem twice!

Fedor in his prime looked untouchable, unbeatable. and he had never lost at that point.

It's not even close.

Stipe is good, fedor was great. Prime vs Prime Fedor's finishes him inside 10 minutes.
Level of competition is relevant

Stipe is steamrolling legendary fighters

Fedor steamrolled a lot of guys who would be fringe top ten or worse today

Their respective styles and how they match up is what counts

Stipe would probably knock him out early, just like his last couple opponents. Terrible match up for Fedor

Struve beat stripe in his prime lol. Is this a serious question?
Why are you outright lying? Literally nobody would say the Struve fight took place in Stipe's prime.

Make your case based on facts, if you can...

You should watch that "vaunted" guillotine attempt again. It was a terrible move.
What was terrible about it? Stipe was half way to his feet, leaning into Overeem by the time they made contact. It was overeem's only option aside from just letting Stipe stand back up.

He tried to pull guard with the guillotine when he could have just pushed him onto his back and took top position like any top grappler (including Stipe) would have done. Or just used the time to smash Stipe in the head more.

Maybe his 'vaunted guillotine' wasn't so vaunted because he hasn't actually submitted anyone with it in over a decade.

Here's a fact:

Stipe doesn't have a prime vs prime win over anyone.

Stripe is still the same fighter.. he is pretty stiff and has no head movement. He has been dropped multiple times in fights . His durability is his best asset though.

the slow fat 220 5'11 dude on roids is gonna td d1 wrestler who is way more athletic, stronger and faster.yeah......
Nice try with the "roids" comment but a lanky Stefan Struve baby-punched Miocic into a living death and I'm a Stipe fan. One Fedor bomb would explode his head.

Fedor beat a 2 fight removed champ in Arlovski who came back 3 years later and STILL was a title contender. He beat Noguiera who came to the UFC and became champ, well after his prime. A way past his prime Overeem dropped a Prime Stipe and, for some unGodly reason, didn't put him away and then there is Struve... prime or whatever that was... baby-punching Stipe's lights out. You are right... Miocic by submission. He explodes Fedors fist with his face and forces Fedor to tap.

we should do a all time heavy tournament thread

All of this is completely irrelevant

Stipe is a far advanced striker to Fedor, a much better wrestler and much larger man with better footwork

Good luck to Fedor is all I can say

Really don't get the love for Stipe, he's an average fighter who has luckily came along when the rest of the HW division is injured or past their prime.

You make it sound like he was the only HW that stepped on the welcome mat of the UFC in the last decade. He wasn't, he wasn't even the odds-on favorite among the various prospects. But he's the one who prevailed and scaled to the top of the mountain. That alone argues that he's not just "average."

I like Stipe but he is a fireman and former softball player with an average HW chin, not a world class sambo practitioner with HW power and MW speed.

I can't help but smile when people act like fighting ability is defined solely by biographical details. He's a fireman! He was a baseball (not softball, silly) player! How can he be a good fighter if not every waking minute of his existence can be documented as having been spent in the gym or on the canvas!?!

When will you guys realize that if he can be the champion in addition to being a fireman and a former baseball player, it testifies to what a amazing talent he really is?

Physical prime does not necessarily correlate with fighting prime. Because Stipe started relatively late in MMA he was still somewhat unformed as a fighter when he met with Struve, a guy with more than three times his experience in the cage. But neither Fedor nor Stipe could ever hit hard enough to knock that truth into your brain.

That and Crocop breaking his nose(but not really rocking him) are the only times he was hurt by a strike until Hendo, Before his decline as well Fedor had the lowest strikes taken per minute ratio in MMA history which is insane as a HW.

His defence was not "showy" like Andersons showboating but he was one of the most effective slipers of punchs we've ever seen in the sport. People without technical knowledge miss it but vs Crocop he slips loads of left straights, that and blocking the mid kicks so effectively is arguably the key to his winning that fight, loads of other people tried to pressure Mirko during his prime and bar Hunts mega chin they all got destroyed.

If Stipe chased peak Mirko like he did Overeem and JDS he'd have taken a lot more punishment.

I never knew that!

If you think Fedor was slow, you started watching MMA around the same time as your Sherdog join date.

In what universe was prime Fedor slow? You clearly never watched him fight.

Idiot.
That’s what made Fedor great. He could get in and out of range in a hurry. He was always on balance and his footwork to was phenomenal
