Sad to read, but that kind of grit is useful. I'd be surprised if he left the corps and wasn't immediately kicking ass and taking names on the outside.

All the terps we had in the line companies are probably dead from lung cancer.
The terp in Generation Kill had a family member who was killed by Saddam's forces when they invaded Kuwait so all he wanted to do was "kill Iraqis."

Best terp quote I ever heard was "I used to fly heliocopter for Saddam, but you shoot down my Heliocopter, so now I work for you."

Yes, waste of time IMO. (I say that alot).

Edit: But supposedly the percentage that get through HW went from 25% to 33% with the program. They had good psych instruction I think.

A bunch of marines on Reddit saw an advanced screening of this and actually liked it. Yeah yeah, Shia LeBeouf is a weirdo but he was really good in Fury. The plot's kinda weird though - his character returns home from Afghanistan to a post apocalyptic America, looking for his wife and son.

It was rare enough in my day to see someone that could do 20 and pull off a sub 18 or vice versa, and they go and raise the pull up count
