Miguel Cotto has reportedly ended his partnership with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation after just two fights together. The two parted ways due to a disagreement over Cotto’s purse for a planned fight with Yoshihiro Kamegai, who had already signed a contract and was waiting for Cotto’s signature when the fight was cancelled.

The Cotto-Roc Nation Sports separation was amicable but came about because they simply could not agree on the money Cotto should be paid for the fight, a source with knowledge of the situation said. Cotto, the source said, wanted way more than Roc Nation Sports was willing to guarantee for such a marginal fight that likely would have lost money.

Kamegai, who is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, had already signed a contract for the fight, but it was contingent upon Cotto signing, which he hadn't, and there being a television outlet for the bout, which there wasn't. HBO, Cotto's longtime television home, was not interested in the Kamegai fight unless Cotto had a major fight lined up after it, which he did not, according to a source.

All of Roc Nation's chips are now on Ward, if he loses theyre in deep shit

He will win; Roc Nation is still gonna lose money, win or lose.

His contract is up after this fight iirc. I don't think they'll resign him either.

Damn wish I could find my post when he first signed with them. I called it...

Roc is a joke. No surprise.

Roc Nation dumped a ton of money into existing names, not realizing that they will be demanding a whole lot of money. Ward isn't a draw, and Cotto is too expensive and picky. Who else do they have? Rigondeaux? He's not a draw either.

Bad investment strategy.

Picking Ward and Rigo is good for boxing but apparently bad for business. Skill doesn't always fill stadiums.

bingo

they paid money for early 2000 cotto, not remembering the year and physical state of miguel; as he is no longer capable of fighting the level of opposition and frequency and style that brings in the fans repeatedly. So they were never gonna make back their money on him, cus he is on last legs of his career he wants to make top end money...and fight when or who he wants.

ward never has or will be a big draw; if you go for quality, he deserves the money, but on fanbase ppv sales and ratings... he deserves none of it.

if they coulda got broner that would have helped...broner earns win or lose he generates interest

Cotto vs Bradley or Marquez, only fights were he will get paid the amount he wants.
