Joe called him out. He said, "I think he's getting smashed."
I love when Joe Rogan called him out directly by saying he doesn't think Conor is trying to tire Khabib out at all, but he is just getting smashed
i honestly think conor tried to repeat the strategy that floyd played on him. its a really obvious strategy to use against bigger stronger fighters in championship level fights and i think him winning the 3rd round made this even more clear. i just think he went about it poorly and wasn't as efficient as he needed to be
Also the fact Cruz just couldn't admit he might be wrong. He does strike me as the individual who believes he's always right. Just made him sound even more ridiculous.
There’s a bisping in every northern pub in uk
It’s funny really that one has risen to the top
did he really? lol. did not know that.
no one is listening to these bums
Cruz was trying to wear conmans pannties
Good thing theres only 2 months left on the fox deal
lol haven’t thought of him in forever
I remember him getting FOLDED by a body kick, I think.
Was that against Bisping? The Crow?
In fairness to Cruz whilst I’m sure Conor’s game plan wasn’t to lie on his back taking shots there might be some truth in Conor covering up and thinking none of these are hurting let him gas himself out instead of trying to escape from that position
Im the biggest dom cruz fan in this forum and he is the goat analyst but that shit was dumb . Anyways Cruz > Bisping
Haha that spinning back kick was against The Crow, Bisping clinched him and knee'd him a million times.
"Conor knows he can land the left whenever he wants".
I love Cruz but he was on PCP this time
ohh yeah I remember the Bisping clinch now
Kav said the game plan was to weather the storm and not waste energy trying to get up.
So it was to not gas Conor, instead of trying to gas Khabib.
kavanaugh even said as much in an interview on joe rogan's podcast on the monday after the fight (timestamped 2:41):
rogan: so the plan was to slow him (khabib) down a little in the 3rd, 4th and 5th?
kavanaugh: yea, exactly.
Pretty ridiculous state we’ve come to if Joe “the biggest shill in combat sports history” Rogan, is the most unbiased commentator of a Connor fight
The truth is somewhere in the middle.
No Conor couldn't get up, or do anything about getting handled on the ground. But I believe his coach when he says the plan was to defend yourself in your guard instead of wasting energy trying to get up.
Khabib is the best at mat returns, he would have repeatedly dumped Conor if he needed to. Conor decided (likely planned) to take his lumps instead of failing to get up repeatedly, blowing out his gas tank.
Cruz used a poor choice of words explaining this, but conceptually I get his point.
It also is interesting point to highlight, when your best game plan is to hope your opponent runs out of energy beating you up, the fight is likely a mismatch.
I would guess espn still relies on professional analysis ongoing from that point as well though. I actually like bisping's impression of things for the most part but I could see how he might be overlooked due to the unprofessional banter he likes to engage in.
