BMW i8

Which car brand do you prefer?

I'm a BMW guy. That being said I'm not really a fan of their latest cars from the last 10 years or so

8 series is on my bucket list. Love those things.

For this thread, I’d rather have that AMG GT than 2 of those Bimmers. That i8 fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

I like BMW style much better.

Quality, Durability and Reliability....Which brand is better?

I'm pretty sure that Mercedes is the right answer. I know engineers who don't think much of BMW. One commented that he couldn't believe the prestige BMW had achieved in NA.

The 745 was one of the most unreliable cars ever made, i-drive was just terrible and they had engine fires at one time over HVAC motors.

I am going to sell my 540I M sport any day now. I am not a fan of BMW's crappy engineering. Cooling systems that las 50,000 miles, control arms that maybe last the same. Timing chain guides and rod bearing issues with the V8s.......ughhhhh, no thanks. The older BMW I6 engines are pretty good, but that's about it.

I did buy one of these this weekend:

2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen

Mercedes. On all levels besides entry cars.

That's a different car in 2004, not even a saab engine or the best part of the car....the Trionic engine management.
Well, maybe not exactly a straight up pos. But he does have to fix a few things if he wants to sell it.

Wonder why they changed the engine.

GM owned Saab, and they went to the ecotec engines. The ecotec engine in the Saab is kind of like the Cobalt SS engine without the direct injection.

This is what a Saab B engine looks like:

im a bmw fan, mercedes are great looking cars, but everyone i know who's had one is always complaining of things going wrong.

I've driven both brands and I would go for the Merc.
