I don't think it takes a bad experience with women for men to want to be players, or at least get laid in a shallow way. That desire comes pretty naturally as a base, unrefined instinct, especially for younger men. Nowadays it's easy for men to play that out because marriage of how accepted pre-marital sex is. Now men can get the sex they want, without having to commit to anything.

In my experience women can be very loyal, and it isn't uncommon at all.
