Chidi should win. Was really impressed by how easily he handled Fialho.

I wonder what Melvin will fail the drug test for this time.

Pretty good fight, it's a much better main event than Rickels vs Darrow.

Also, wasn't Guillard going to be in ROAD's tournament?

This is not good. Melvin has an important fight next month in Korea to get into the Road FC $1million lightweight tournament. If he gets hurt, or can't make weight for that fight, he's fucked.

At least the Bellator fight is WW but I still have doubts on him making weight twice in 2 weeks, especially when his latter fight is at a lighter weight.

No problem with this fight but its not a good main event.

This is like an opening bout fight imo.

That's a pretty terrible main event.

Agree, would love to see this fight even as a co-main if the Main Event fight is a solid one....
Let's see how the rest of the card goes....

Was gonna criticize Melvin for this but then realized Chidi failed to make weight in his last bout. I'll save my coke joke for another time.

I like your comment and it was kind of what I was thinking, but giving it a 2nd thought his finances might not be looking very good right now. That 1million is a very long shot for Melvin, and it's better to ~$50k (not sure what his purse will be for this fight, just a guess) guaranteed now, than to maybe (very small maybe) have 1 million later. A whole year off with no income has got to be tough, plus the fine, plus the cost of rehab... I'm sure Melvin is feeling a pinch right about now.

I don't understand why Bellator waits til the last minute to announce main events. This event is like two weeks away. Crazy shit

The only logically and shitty explanation is the fact that caveman is The hometown boy. They might have attempted the ol' bait and switch. Make it look like caveman is main eventing to sell tickets in his hometown, the announce another main event last minute

Well it sounds like Melvin wasn't available until very recently, but yea, why the show in 2 1/2 weeks, instead of in March some time? Guillard probably still has some name recognition, but not so much that it would make this worth it.

Anyway, if it was coke, I hope he can stay clean now that he's out of rehab.

He would have to win at least 8 bouts in a row to get the 1 million plus the tournament seems unorganized. Does anybody know how many fighters will be in it?

If he wins next month, he goes into a n 8-man bracket. He wins that fight, he's seeded into the tournament. he's in the 32 man tournament bracket. From there, he needs 5 victories for $1mil, so 7 total. It's not disorganized at all. It's been laid out and their press release has been posted in other threads:

Korea, North and South America, and Europe Trials

The final International Trials will take place across two events in Korea. While ROAD FC is already in negotiations with top fighters from all over the world, the interest has been so overwhelming that these Trials have been set to include proponents from some of the most active MMA countries in the world. There are expected to be sixteen fighters from Korea, North and South America, and Europe who will compete in the first event. The eight winners will move onto the second Trials event, and the final four match winners will be seeded in the ROAD FC $1 Million Lightweight Tournament.

Even with the difficulty, it's unprofessional to book 2 fights so close together like this. Lisa Ellis tried to do it, and one of her bouts was canceled by the promoter.

I believe Rickels was the main event but then I guess Melvin got his suspension reduced so they added this fight. This is a much better main event than Rickles vs some guy.
