They should classify it as an exhibition fight so it has no effect on the record. If it needs further classification then label it an exhibition mma fight with extended rules that match boxing. People just want to see the fight.

I know. I was joking about boxing being dead, but it wouldn't be good for Conor to beat Floyd.

while that is certainly true, prepare to be frustrated for 12 rounds yelling at your tv and make sure you have plenty of beers on hand.

    These guys sound so bitter.

Conor has them shaking and he hasn't even started on them. I think they're realizing in the event Conor pulls the biggest miracle in boxing the level of respect to the sport will take a HUGEEEE hit .

agree but the irish pub-people casual mma fans who found new self-confidence with mcgregor will buy it, because they just search entertainment not real fights... and all the black guys who wanna see mayweather again will buy it, because mayweather is a symbol for the new wave cockyness for many blacks.

You are making too much out of it.
    Floyd is a RETIRED Boxer.
If he loses, it changes nothing. His status in Boxing history is secure, and this fight is viewed as a freak fight, not a serious one.

The only change will be for Conor.
If he wins, he will probably not want to go back fighting for "peanuts" after tasting what he can get from Boxing.
He will probably leave the UFC and try calling out some other names he thinks he can beat... or at least make the same money as he did wirth Floyd (i.e. PacMan).
or a rematch with Floyd. I reckon he will try to avenge himself and not let his last boxing match be a loss.

Boxing promoters made a mockery of the sport ages ago.

Let's face it, boxing will benefit from having this fight made.

Ahhh... boxing and MMA are two different sports and it won't be the same without elbows and wrestling. Dang! this Golden Boy crowd are sharper than I thought.

It makes a mockery of MMA too and a bigger one at that.

Floyd is 'retired' as a top boxer so let him take a carny fight, it shouldn't be relevant to the current active top boxing contenders.

Meanwhile MMA fans have to watch the spectacle of Clownor after getting cosseted with handpicked opponents in MMA, running from title defense obligations (0 career defenses) all the way to another sport just to fuel his 'ima boxer' fantasy and to temporarily bail out his doubtless out-of-control spending with a big payday.

& the reward for MMA fans for all this will be to see the most recognizable fighter in their sport, who destroyed it's supposed 'moet skilled MMA fighter ever' fighter in 13 seconds with basic boxing then became its 'first multiweight champ' by completely dominating a supposedly great MMA fighter using only basic boxing, get utterly embarrassed in a boxing ring. (at which point Boxers will probably feel pretty good after all).

Basically Conor has cucked the sport of MMA.

On the wave of MMA taking over the world.

I don't understand this post at all.

Your first quote is from Oscar....Of course he would love to promote that fight and make it. He's a promoter who is looking to make money. I don't recall him suddenly saying this fight is a travesty and embarrassment for boxing (though he knows it is).

Your second quote is from Alvarez....Nowhere does he say "he" wants to fight Conor, only that he should come try out boxing if he's serious.

So what exactly is the point you're making?

They're just jealous. As a guy said above me, if Conor KO's Mayweather, boxing is dead.

Boxing isn't above one freak show fight. A bigger mockery of the sport is the corruption of the Olympic boxing judges. Absolute fucking joke.

2 men making money, completely legally? Who are we to judge. Don't like? don't watch.
