underrated by who...casuals and new fans?

Hume has long been acknowledged as a pioneer and legend in the sport...he's just not an attention seeker.

If you don't know Hume's history, do yourselves a favour and read up on him. He has heavily influenced the development of the sport.

Matt Hume is always universally regarded.

His gym isn't in the spotlight because Kirkland Washington is in the pacific Northwest, which is essentially the middle of nowhere in regards to MMA. Seattle isn't exactly a hot bed of fighting.

Most 'super camps' are all in areas with a deep history in fighting, and lots of other nearby gyms and all that come with it.

He's one of the best coaches out there for sure, especially when it comes to grappling.

I'd say most casuals and new fans don't know him yet. The new fans who become hardcores will eventually find out about him.

Hmmm... I would actually love to see him in a different role... He used to be a judge back in the days too...

He could have a decisive influence in a [positive] evolution of the game...

I remember him judging a few fights, but not many. I know he has a One FC role.

Matt hume is a coaching wizard and has a special bond with mighty mouse, their relationship go beyond and deeper than that of a regular fighter/coach bond.

It reminds me alot of gsps relationship with firas zahabi, like a special bond.

Kavanagha and connor are also a standout coach/fighter couple. Basically like a family.

But yeah matt Hume is a great coach, i dont see how he is underrated though. He is great but he has trained what? 2 or 3 world champions?
Gregg jackson has trained over 10.
