Marine Le Pen branded a "Neo-fascist" by Lebanese protesters after refusing to wear a headscarf

You and me are not the same.
You deliberately misrepresent Le Pen's Position on Immigration and call her a Nazi,i had to correct you on that.

As in 2012, the FN’s manifesto contains proposals to cut legal immigration to 10,000 “entries” a year. Deportations are to become easier; obtaining aslyum, residency rights and French nationality, harder.

Yeah sorry mate, I was super drunk when I posted that. Didn't mean to call that.
I should really not start up sherdoog after coming back from the bar sorry again.

I don't blame them for protesting. The Syrian forces and intelligence services ruthlessly occupied Lebanon and crushed any dissent to their presence. For her to say Bashar is the best option for France, though a defensible position from the French perspective, is kind of a slap to the face to many Lebanese.
Christian right-wing leader Samir Geagea said after meeting with Le Pen on Tuesday that “terrorism has no religion.” He described Assad as “the biggest terrorist in Syria and the region.”

Walid Jumblatt, a leftist politician in Lebanon, tweeted on Tuesday that Le Pen’s statements in Lebanon “were an insult toward the Lebanese people and Syrian people.”
And the French used the Christian presence in the region to justify their interference and domination before so they're right to be skeptical of her and France more generally.

Still not sure how she's a Nazi though.

I can understand why a lot of people don't like Le Pen (or Nigel Farage, or President Trump). What I don' get is how pushing pro-French (or pro-British, or pro-American) agendas would automatically makes you a Nazi, or why taking stance against a shameful headscarf that had been forced on oppressed women for decades would make you a Fascist.

If protesters wanted to be taken seriously, this dumb and tired "literally Hitler" jingo is really not doing them any favors.

I don't like her ideas, therefore she must be a bad person. You know who were also bad people? Nazis! Therefore she must ba a Nazi!

^ that's the "thought" process.

Its just trendy to call right wingers fascists or Nazis just like its trendy to call left wing folk socialists or communists even when they're far from it.

In this case though I don't blame them. France already has a sketchy past with Lebanon and she came out in support of Bashar, whose intelligence services basically acted like the gestapo in Lebanon. In Lebanon people are still split over the Syrian civil war given their past with the country and the general distaste the region's people have for the dictators of the region. Hezbollah took a hit to its reputation for supporting Bashar. They're supposed to be about "Muh Islamic revolution!" yet they're helping a dictator crush a revolution. The hypocrisy was not lost on the Lebanese people.

Some of the founding members of the Front National were actually former Nazis and served in the French SS divisions during WW2 (to be fair, some others were in the Résistance). Marine le Pen tries to break free from this heritage and, clearly, most of her voters aren't Nazis. It's still not completely random or unfair that this stigma exists on the FN.

Oh yeah I've heard of that. Pretty unsettling stuff. I've always said I'll take Trump over Le Pen for reasons like this.

Yeah, I figured that's sort of like calling today's Democrats "KKK", based on undisputed fact that the Ku Klux Klan was founded, cultivated, and politically-empowered by Democrats decades ago.

Is *that* stigma completely random and unfair? I personally think so, the very moment it became clear that the party's direction genuinely has changed and the old cast no longer applies to both the party's leaders and voters.

All those Democrats died over a century ago. The Jean-Marie le Pen that bragged about personally torturing Arabs during the Algeria war of independence and who says the Holocaust wasn't a big deal is still alive, and still has a strong support within the FN. At every major election, there is still a bunch of FN candidates that have to resign because they got caught doing the Nazi salute or something similar. They always had issues recruiting more than a few well-spoken public figures to go to public debates and run at elections because lots of their most motivated militants (which I separate from their much wider and diverse pool of voters) cross most red lines, even by the Far Right's pretty loose standards.
